Martin Mendez proving you don’t need a dark glass pedal and crazy looking bass to have a good metal tone. I prefer his more traditional tone to the super clacky sounding bass tones that everyone in death metal wants now. Sometimes they have a place but his bass tone on deliverance is so good

He's looks like Charley Day in a metal band!

Thank you I love creamy deep bass tones and it's heartbreaking to see people walking away from that in advantage to more modern tones

You can see and hear Lopez's fragile soul when he speaks.

8:08 look closely. Peter and mikael locking eyes and thinking in unison "wow!" they were such an awesome guitar duo and obviously were two peas in a pod musically and best mates

agree 100% I miss Peter so badly….I have his autograph framed along with the rest of the true classic lineup

This was definitely my favorite lineup of opeth. Nothing against newer members and I actually like the newer albums but I miss Peter and Lopez and can’t help but wonder what opeth would sound like if they were still in the band.

What happened to Lopez exactly?
@harmont7524 жыл бұрын
In the making of Ghost Reveries they explain that Lopez got ill, he got some kind of blood infection problem and took a time to rest, but later he started having panic attacks and stuff so he decided to quit. But, he formed a new band named Soen, which is very cool :)

I don't understand why the limited themselves with regards to time so much in these studio sessions? Why not rehearse a bit more before hand, or have a bit longer in the studio (ok, money perhaps)? Seems strange how much they rushed it. I understand Mikael wasn't totally happy with Deliverence, and we might've had an even better album had a bit more time gone in to it. It's not like they were leaving much time between albums back then. They were pumping them out. And quality, too.
