I just read Suzi Weiss-Fischmann book, “I’m not really a Waitress”. She released it in 2019. I think her marketing team has certainly changed with naming the polishes and choosing the colors. I have been wearing nail lacquer for decades, so some in this collection remind me of my younger years. I remember Revlon, Maybelline, and Cutex as being my go to as a young teenager in the 1970’s. I enjoy your honest reviews!

BFFR = Be F'ing For Real. At least, that is what Google says. :) Btw, now after you explained this is a retro theme collection, it makes more sense! The red screams 50s pinup to me. The 60s Mod era was all about whites and pastels. 70s had beiges, but also the late 70s had bright pinks and oranges psychadelic inspired shades, including blues. 80s had neon. The 90s had verrrrry dark vampy and goth shades, so I see how the deep shades fit. Etc. Thanks for giving the reasoning behind this collection. It no longer seems like just an opi random mess to me. Lol I TOTALLY agree that opi has strayed from their sophisticaled "professional/salon/spa" type of collections. I wish they would get back to their Country and City collex! I love the older opi shade puns. I dont like the new trying to be hip names. I think most Gen Zers are more into indies and are not going to buy loads of opi just for the names of the shades lol, so opi is just alienating their core customer. Get back to sopnisticated, opi. Have you ever tried CND? i wish you would review their Vinulux collections! I just recently bought their spring collection, and omg.....I luvvvvvvv their formulas! I am getting 4 to 5 days wear without any chips! Opi usually lasts me 2 days tops.

I think OPI could have leaned in more to their title My Me Era. This feels like a 1970’s inspired color collection. The 70’s were coined “The Me Decade” and also the ERA finally passed through congress in the 1970’s. Do young people even know what the ERA is? Probably not. Thank you so much for the honest review. I absolutely love the old OPI collections and am a collector, but the most recent collections seem really out of character for them with names that are ridiculous and do not make sense. I did ask my teenage girls, who are considered "late" Gen Z, what the names mean and they had no idea and thought they were really stupid names. It seems like OPI is having an identity crisis. They are pushing away their old loyal customers - the ones that are typically purchasing their polishes and trying to appeal to a very narrow window of consumers. Someone in their marketing department needs to be fired. Really appreciate the review though. Hope OPI can get back on track!

@@JessyJones2112not complaining. It’s feedback which Janixa asks for after every single video. I never said anything bad about Janixa herself, but simply to improve her video and viewer retention. You even said your self it you “complaining” in your own video. Again, I love and appreciate the quality of your video, but it’s getting increasingly harder to get through your great videos due to the heavy complaining about the names specifically. Sometimes co nstructure criticism isn’t always nice to hear, or receive , and I do apologize if you took it as if I was attacking your character. The choice to bash other brands and yet look away when nail pollies does the exact same thing. I’ve also seen you do this with sheer polishes and yet when nail polies puts out a sheer polish you can’t stop gushing and gushing about the quality of the sheer polish. Sorry Janixa just things I’m noticing.

You’re comparing brands that are in completely different stages. OPI is 40+ years old and made in a factory, while Nailpollies isn’t even a year old yet and handmade. OPI should most definitely at this point have their crap together with formulas and they don’t with some of the horrible shades they’ve released in recent years. I haven’t used a Nailpollies that has a bad formula. Sheer is fine as long as the formula is good. I’ve said this in multiple videos that have nothing to do with Nailpollies. I really don’t appreciate you coming for my integrity here. I have mentioned in my OPI videos that they aren’t my favorite brand but I am still going to be fair. For example, I mentioned plenty in this video that formulas were good and colors were beautiful. What more are you wanting from me? I don’t have to like the names. Look through the comments of this video and you’ll see how many people are over the sexualized names, puns that don’t make sense, and puns directed towards a much younger generation than the market they used to target. OPI has always done puns, and while not my favorite thing, they used to do them better. And to be clear, I don’t like Nailpollies puns either. Again, I’ve mentioned IN Nailpollies videos that puns aren’t my favorite. However, she doesn’t use stupid puns like OPI has been doing lately.

@@naillacquertherapyI completely agree with you when it comes to the comparison to nail pollies and opi. Brand timeline wise there is no comparison, however the price of a nail pollies polish is significantly higher due to the art and packaging not formula. We are talking formula when it comes to my comment. I am not coming for your integrity Janixa, at all. In fact, I’m praising your integrity and quality of the presentation . I know you are NOT a hypocrite, but I just noticed a little bit of a double standard sentiment between your complaints from one brand to the other. To me as a viewer it was apples to apples when it came to your complaint on the names. By all means continue to give us your unbiased opinion… I’m just adding that… you spend too much time bashing in the names and puns. I personally come in here to escape negativity. Again I truly enjoy your videos, your quality of videos, your integrity in your reviews, and I have even shared your channel on my medias several times, I’m rooting for you!

Colors are great even though half are more "fall" than summer. But the names...thank you Janixa for commenting on their naming choices now. They have been declining for the last year or more with trying to be "cool&hip". It's not working. OPI, which I love for cream polishes, Needs to hire a full fledged non-TikTok leaning adult to name from now on. Please, please go back to the location naming 😭🙏🙏.

This is a very weird collection. Did they mean it to be a summer/fall transition collection? Some of the colours are fine, but it just seems...blah. Nothing exceptional or exciting. That being said, I do like some of the colours, anyway. You know me. The greens, blue, purple = yes. The reds and pink are too orange for my taste (colours of DOOM). Not crazy about the yellows or brow or the dingy white. I think I can help with some of the names, since I had to take a bunch of linguistics courses at uni, including studying assorted slang usages. BFFR = Be For F'n Real or Be F'n For Real. FIre is a popular adjective in the rap/hip hop community. It's roughly equivalent to 'hot' or 'cool,' but is especially a replacement for 'awesome.' So feeling fire is feeling awesome or hot in a good way. Snacc is for someone sexy. So I'd guess that Midnight Snacc would be that hot person you see while you're partying of an evening.

Don’t like this collection at all. Lol. Some of them are okay.. FOR FALL. 🙄 it seems like they are trying to stand out from the other companies and set a new trend and they are failing.. miserably

This collection doesn't make a lick of sense. The names, the colors, the inspiration? It's all so random and all over the place. It's honestly like OPI is going through a mid-life crisis. Individually, some of the polishes seem good at least.

Mid life crisis would make sense since they’re 40 something years old lol

I was surprised to find myself liking most of these colors. I was expecting a 20 piece collection with 10 versions of the same pearly glitter/shimmer that doesn’t work as a topper and won’t look good on its own. However, I’m not buying OPI until they change their idiotic brushes and naming conventions.
@naillacquertherapy7 ай бұрын
I don’t blame you at all! I hate their brushes more and more every time I use them.
@ThatSoundsBoring7 ай бұрын
@@naillacquertherapy I’ve swapped my brushes with KBS ones. They’re a little too short but the likelihood of me reaching the bottom of an OPI is slim to none. I just don’t want to have to buy brushes on top of a polish that’s already expensive over here.

The names are cringe. The two reds are so similar. Not really a fan.

The formulas are good at least. I just don't understand this direction they're going. These names remind me of those parents who try way too hard to act cool and then just embarrass themselves. I miss the destination collections so much.

You do a beautiful job swatching. OPI is not what it used to be. This is not a good collection for summer.
