Yes, many legal jurisdictions worldwide have statutes justifying the use of deadly force in certain circumstances. The most common is in response to an immediate deadly threat. In some jurisdictions, like Texas, deadly force is authorized during aggravated sexual assault. In 2012 a Texas man beat his five year old daughter's rapist to death with his bare hands.

I think the reason the detective asked "why" is because he was upset at the prospect of this grieving father being put in prison for the rest of his life, further traumatizing his fucking kid. And 99 percent of the time he'd be right, but luckily this dad managed to get his revenge without actually making anything worse.

A part of me wishes I'd discovered this channel much sooner and another is just grateful to have found it at all. There are so many third party uploaders on KZbin these days, either monetizing copyrighted content or begging via Patreon. But all they _do_ is upload. This channel is worth a few bucks, because the content has been greatly enhanced by the addition of the material being discussed on the show. So much work, tracking it all down and editing it together perfectly. Really nicely done.

I feel so sorry for the dad because he had to do that. It's exactly what I would do and I'm sure most people in that situation given the chance. And obviously I feel so bad for the son who had to not only go through the original hell but now has to grow up without his dad around. As for the worthless nothing that got killed he got exactly what he deserved. My only issue with that is how he didn't suffer. But that's just emotion taking over and ultimately just being taken out with a shot to the head is the way to deal with a nonce.
