Not exactly the same thing but my brother got a crayon container filled with jelly beans one Easter and started farting in the empty container for MONTHS!!! He carried it around like a vile of nitro glycerin and would ninja bomb unsuspecting victims with a whiff every once in awhile. He smartly didn’t do it daily but would strike on random days. Could be weeks but he dominated our house for a long time. Both Mom and Dad got dosed. Dad was the presidential veto that ended his reign of terror. Good Times!

Ability to notice talent. Gleaned the best parts of Stern's golden age show and directed a better version of it. Rallied the fans to a common enemy. Made the show seem cooler than the celebrities and comics it had on. If you listen to the WNEW stuff especially and early xm, it's clear his DNA is all over the show. Look at the hallway interview post Boston mayor prank. Anthony was a timid little girl, Opie was ready for his headshot. By 2009 though he become unlistenable, probably because his cohosts are two fruits in a pod and turned on him. Waah, you were mean to my gf who blew an intern, waah, you didn't say thank you to my mediocre comic friend who's lucky to even be on the program. All 3 of these shitheads are where they are now for a reason

I'm on an Opie kick. I can't say I prefer him to even Jim & Sam. But this is one of the best examples of how he was great. All that said, it's not a fun listen. But if you're on board with Gary. Go soak your head.

xSKRIPx your pretty spot on i just started listening to these guys in the past few years, and this is by far the most comfortable I have heard Opie in a clip since like them going to terrestrial radio back in ‘06, the other 99.99% of time i cannot stand him even in some of the early satellite stuff. But there was a clear split if you listen when they lost the terrestrial radio gig. However I will defend opie on the fact that he has done 2 of the greatest things, the poker chip incident and the bernie goetz incident both are top 15 things.
