Congratulations. It looks almost half as good as when you bought it for twenty bucks.

it's funny it was probably already that sharp before he took a file to the blade for no reason I know mine was. I like having that wonderful 90' spine also as a scraper and such but your knife as always do yourself.

Quick question: What was the idea behind taking a file to the sharp side of the knife before you started working? Was this just to make the blade safe to handle?
@TheRandomSam6 жыл бұрын
Alex S i think yes but he could also put some tape around it

the spine 90* edge is good against a FE rod for fire sparks- should have left it!!

+tony salimbene Not everyone use their knives to play "bushcraft" in the "wilderness" in "survival" situation.
@GravityRoller8 жыл бұрын
+Stefan Wolf +tony salimbene A sharp 90* spine angle also is superior as a general purpose scraper. You are correct, that it does not have to be about "bushcraft" or "wilderness" or "survival" to simply use a knife as a tool non related to just cutting with the primary edge. I use a sharp 90* spine for many purposes and believe is to be a great asset/feature ESPECIALLY on a knife that has an blade lock feature. We all appreciate tools on different levels of use and functionality. I believe this to be a "design feature" of Opinel for over 100 years and seems counterproductive to remove it (which is I believe what tony salimbene was referencing ...?). But, we all do with our tools as we see fit for the use WE intend for them I suppose.

Did you really show how you sharpen a blade for 2,5 mins? I found watching wet paint to dry more fascinating...

+gerard haubert When I sharpen knives like this - never (of course is matter of time to happen), but I have mine fare share of cuts and nick when using sharp tools incorrect or not with firm and steady grip - it cames with the hobby. :)

Just remove the blade instead of dulling it first, wasted time really. Or tape the shit out of it.
