@tamunoj5437 Ijaw culture is minimal in Bonny kingdom. Bonny is a corruption of the Igbo name Ubani. It was the mainland Igbos that gave them that name. Also, war canoe houses has nothing to do with Ijaw. Aboh kingdom which is Igbo had war canoe houses. When the Europeans asked Bonny people to count from 1 to 10, they did so in Igbo. When they asked them to name man and woman in their language, they did so in Igbo. The first Igbo Bible was written in Bonny Igbo dialect, because the transmission happened right there in Bonny kingdom. Some Bonny people have Ijaw and Igbo names, but most of them have English names. In any case, if a DNA test was taken in Bonny kingdom, the result will be 98% Igbo, 2% Ijaw. Not only does Bonny people have Igbo ancestry, but they have a tendency to marry Igbo women. If a full blooded Ijaw man marries an Igbo woman, and his son also married an Igbo woman, his grand children are already 75% Igbo.

It's unfortunate that Niger Delta had the first contact with the whites and their land is endowed with huge oil and gas deposit. Coupled with it's beautiful geography of being surrounded by estuaries, creeks and Atlantic ocean. Yet it's still underdeveloped with many of her people occupying low class population. It's unfortunate. But the Niger Delta leaders should be blamed. Else, how can Kano, Kaduna and Ebonyi States with no 13% excess crude extra allocation will be performing more than Delta, Bayelsa.
