This is a ROM hack, limited by the original game; And because that game is sonic 2,it tries VERY hard to work on those limitations. it managed it, but it can be easily broken, as it is probably unstable. That is what happened here. (that sounded like i was being an asshole,sorry i just wanted to explain)

The fire glitched when he hit the Orbi because it has a glitch in the code that makes the fire totally break and i tested and it works in other emulators so i think this was an unintentional glitch

+Awesome_Matrix Tool Assisted Speedruns, or TAS for short, are speedruns in which a program is used that can slow the game down to frame by frame increments when needed to get frame perfect button presses as well as the program being able to save each button press frame by frame to be able to record a "movie" of every single action that the player makes to be played back into the game once the game is complete. The other feature that the Tool Assist provides is save states, so that way the player can go back and fix mistakes made in order to get an absolute perfect run, completely free of any human error. Every time a failure or optimization is required, the player will revert back to a previous save state in order to retake the player action movie. A video of this length and difficulty of this game probably required several thousand takes, and probably 10+ hours of slowed down gameplay to capture. Also, the movies start based on "system power on" so that any player RNG (random number generation) manipulation is kept synchronized as game RNG is heavily based on system run time. Once the player action movie for the entire completion of the game has been recorded, the player action movie is force-fed back into the game so the actual video can be recorded to be demonstrated.
