I watched this movie yesterday. I am an Indian scientist who works in Ireland. I rate this movie 9.5/10. Being a scientist, i can feel the emotion of all science community. How challenging our job is! Still, We never get enough recognition from society. Either we talked about Rocketry & Oppenheimer, both scientist deserved better treatment for their work. But, politics is dirty game. Power always overruled intelligence.

​​@@____NO_NAME don't know about Eren from Aot but Oppenheimer similar to Arjuna in the sense that both knew the consequences of their actions would lead to mass destruction yet had to act in order to fulfill their duties. But yes, there's a difference too. Arjuna surrendered to God and Oppenheimer seemed a bit arrogant an he mistakened himself as God - the destroyer of worlds. The second point is completely my opinion though many won't agree.

Oppenheimer did not actually think that he became a God. He actually quoted Shri Krishna from the Gita in the post bombing interview saying that everyone watching the trinity test kind of felt the overwhelming description of the shloka which when vaguely translated was "Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds." He even eventually felt that he had blood on his hands because of the creation of the atomic bomb by him and fought against the US govt later when they were deciding to build an even more dangerous hydrogen bomb.

@@yehegsjab4149 Sure I completely agree but I still feel that oppenheimer's decision was a bit selfish since he used the sloka only to justify his deadly invention rather than being inspired by the Karma theory described in Gita - a true follower of Gita would use a verse which translates to surrendering to God's will; compared to Arjuna - whose decision to fight was for the benefit of humanity. Still on a philosophical level its too hard to justify such destructive things in my opinion. I always find Oppenheimer to be arrogantly self absorbed in the speech when he speaks of the given Gita verse. Also, it is said the US approached Oppenheimer to build a hydrogen bomb but given the destruction it would've caused, Oppenheimer instead suggested an atomic alternative.

I cant believe that the reviwer compared this masterpiece with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Not saying that Rocketry was a bad movie but Oppenheimer is a one of a kind movie that has changed the way we look at biopics. Its a biopic, a thriller, a court room drama, power struggle in boardrooms to power struggle between countries, a psyhcological analysis of how power can corrupt men and moreover the moral dilemma gifted men have to constantly face. Nolan's movies are never meant for those who do not aprprciate out of box thinking and hence this statement stands proved.

It was a chilling experience at the theatre. The production values, the performances, the writing, the cinematography all are top notch. Cillian Murphy is perfect as Oppenheimer but the real star is RDJ. However the runtime stretches too long and could've been a little trimmed and the female characters could've a bit more developed. 4/5 Can you also review Barbie?

It was needed very needed to be that long. Don't think this movie as three hours entertainment, this movie has been made for future citation. It was indeed needed to showcase the politics revolving around the entire event. This made the film more realistic as the political part is well documented and his entire life was also a highly classified file in the hands of top bureaucracy. No comparison with Indian cineam could be done. It's the realism of the cinema which will be cited for and his cinema will be remembered for his stark depiction of realism. Nolan has made his mark with his magnum opus, wait has begun for his next movie from now.

The main purpose of any movie is not only entertainment. Art, history, literature is so much neglected that it never entices most of the population. I don't understand why should one focus on the personal life of a scientist more than the challenges he/she faced in the professional life.. Some movies have some important message to convey to the world and it shouldn't be adulterated by romantic bullshits... Educating the audience through thorough contents is essential for all the age groups, for children it is a means to develop curiosity, for adults to deal with their own conscience... it's idiotic to think that ppl buy ticket to go watch atom bombs.... they can witness that in any of the history tv channels or KZbin... Myth of movie making for the sole purpose of entertainment should be really eliminated. at this time, many Bollywood movies are made with much focus on social issues not solely for entertainment...

You'll have to have your wits about you and your brain fully switched on watching Oppenheimer as it could easily get away from a nonattentive viewer. This is intelligent filmmaking which shows it's audience great respect. It fires dialogue packed with information at a relentless pace and jumps to very different times in Oppenheimer's life continuously through it's 3 hour runtime. There are visual clues to guide the viewer through these times but again you'll have to get to grips with these quite quickly. This relentlessness helps to express the urgency with which the US attacked it's chase for the atomic bomb before Germany could do the same.All in all I found it an intense, taxing but highly rewarding watch. This is film making at it finest. A really great watch.
