I've owned the Oppo R7 plus for almost 2 years and rate it highly. build quality is excellent and has survived numerous drops without a case. Camera is excellent also as is colorOS. Battery life also great. Fast charge is useful but I miss out as I perfer to use a multi USB charger, not the VOOC charger. The major thing against Oppo is lack of software updates & that will mean I shop elsewhere when getting a replacement - such a shame as it could be a very easy fix for oppo

Oppo has its own quickcharging technology called "VOOC Flash Charging", so I guess that's why the amp rating is different. It actually charges very very quick from what I've heard.

I'm so glad Oppo decided to expand to Western markets and started selling phones officially here in Australia. I have the R9s and I'm super happy with it. Only thing I'm mad is they didn't release the plus model and were very vague whether if it was being released here, they just released it the other week -_- I would've totally gone for the plus model

For pure Android/Pixel/Nexus enthusiasts probably gonna hate this phone because of expensive price tag for the spec given if you compare directly with their sister company OnePlus 3T. Because OPPO got enough balls to market this to mainstream people like those people who always buy iPhone or Samsung. TBH, I use this phone for couple of weeks and their market this phone as OPPO's Camera Phone is no joke at all. Probably you hate this phone or not well known in your countries but Asia country people love this so much. PS. I'm using the Red version with Black front, is called Valentines version in Asia here. Unlike the fugly Red iPhone.

"5V/4A" = vooc charger, the father of dash charge. VOOC charge use USB A / MICRO-USB Dash charge use USB A / TYPE-C

The micro usb are proprietary which Oppo/OnePlus use for the vooc charging. There are extra pins with to work with the supplied charger. But yeah they should've used the type c version like OnePlus.

The problem with Oppos isn't immediately apparent. They are lovely phones, but their incredibly restricted in what you can do with the Android (or what used to be Android). You cant' change launcher nor have more than one widget for example. If you want a phone that just makes phone calls and uses apps like a iPhone then no problem but if you're used to the freedom of Android just pass on Oppo. I had the R9s for only a week before I couldn't stand its unbelievable restrictions.

That charger is a VOOC enabled one (OPPO's fast charging protocol), on which DASH fast charging is based on (the one from the OP3T).

When you do the review can you please include your thoughts on the main differences between this and the upcoming one they previewed recently with a significantly new lens/ camera design. They have consistently been expensive but highly regarded for the still shot camera, even if they then focused on the selfie market, and l'm always checking them out hoping they come up with either a consumer friendly super speck flagship, or that the camera tech filters down to a top of the middle range performer with a large screen. In other words, is it worth waiting for their new camera or is this a good enough all-rounder for multi tasking + an above the category camera performance? It may be a weird question, but when they went selfie l bought the 1+1 from their "subsidiary alternative", One+, and am not sure that l want to follow the same performance motivated logic with my next purchase, ( gaming performance is not a priority) . I do not know if l'm in the minority here, but l'm hoping that Oppo can provide a credible alternative, as l do not like the aspect ratio of the new screens other manufacturers are developing to give a maxi screen space for the form factor, (and outright detest the design of the Google phones). Sorry for rambling, and thanks for your always pertinent reviews, they consistently help me when I get sidetracked :-)

When I record instagram story or something directly from instagram, everything is fine, there is sound. Same with calls. Obviously mic is working, but there is no sound when I record with camera app! 1st problem scroll speed very slow for pictures. normal speed but slower than fladship phones. internet webpage scroll speed is faster. 2nd problem no select all button for contact, for pictures and many other places. i find that very tedious need to selct one by one. 3rd problem Contact ~ whenver u need to delete a contact, u have to click the contact name and click edit and scoll down to the bottom to delete it. 3 times the click and what if you need to delete 300 contacts how?? 4th problem Font. you can only change the font size in reading page but you cannot change the font size of all ICON on the deskstop menu. Desktop ICON. DESKTOP ICONS. ALL THE ICONS. ICONS LABELS. ICONS WORDS. ICON. ICON.

I bet you can't move the icons around where you want on the home screen and it behaves like IOS. I have the Chinese version of the R9s (not plus) and that drove me crazy. Seems like the international version launcher allows you to place the icons exactly where you want. I'm happy I found how to disable the default launcher so I could use a 3rd party one because the OS won't allow you to change the default launcher.

I think you missed the point. The Chinese version doesn't allow you to change the stock launcher. Also, the stock launcher is like IOS where the icons must be arranged from top to bottom (ex. No placing icons exactly where you want on the screen).
