Is MHA degree eligible for OPT? If yes then wonderful and if not then what to do? I am a prospective MHA student and confused right now.

Mam, A lot of MHA courses requires a 12-16 weeks of residency program to complete the course. But what is written in the university websites is that many of the residency sites have rules prohibiting placement of non-U.S. citizens and non-permanent residents, the program cannot guarantee placement of international students and thus the ability to successfully complete the degree program requirements for graduation. How can a international student overcome this issue?

I am not aware of the requirements of mandatory residency programs. Some universities do a mandatory internship between their coursework which typically happens in summer. Campus placement is not a normal occurrence across many universities in the US. They offer resources, companies or a list of hospitals that offer these programs. Contacts and connections with alumni etc. for us to try to get into internships and fellowships. Sometimes there are career fairs. But no department is obligated to place their students in fellowships/residencies/internships/jobs. This responsibility lies with the students. If any international candidate gets accepted into residency or fellowship after a master's, they can use the OPT period to take these roles. But the challenge is getting a work visa within one year. The best suggestion is to choose universities that offer help to get into internships and fellowships; OR the ones that don’t mandate it.
