Abba Father, I come into agreement with John 8:31-39, since I know and experience every day the word of God is holy and sets every captive free. I pray for those who are enslaved by satan they are willing to find freedom through the word of God. In the name and by the blood of Christ I bind every slavery to sin under my feet, amen and hallelujah!

He makes a bold imposition with his stance on Christians needing to read their bibles in correlation to the word abide. It is worth noting what the definitions are for the word abide. All for bible reading but: Abide has multiple meanings as a verb and a noun: Verb As a verb, abide means to tolerate, endure, or withstand something without yielding or submitting. For example, "I cannot abide such bigots". Synonyms of abide include bear, endure, stand, suffer, and tolerate. Intransitive verb As an intransitive verb, abide means to remain stable or fixed in a state, or to continue in a place. For example, "a love that abided with him all his days". Noun The noun form of abide is abider. Phrases "Abide by" means to conform to or accept without objection. For example, "competitors must abide by the judge's decision".

Hi I'm newish to reading the Bible. 14:11-14:14 where in the Bible does it say rejecting Jesus is a sin?
@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Жыл бұрын
Welcome to the channel. Here are some verses that talk about the consequences of rejecting Jesus. John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. John 5:24 Jesus said... “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. John 6:47 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. (The implication was that they didn't have life without Jesus) I hope this helps. There are a few verses.

In reference to John 8:42-44. Who are the descendants of the followers of satan to whom Jesus is referencing in these verses? Who are the descendants of the Pharisee, the devil's followers

Here is David Guzik's written commentary on John 8:44-47 enduringword.com/bible-commentary/john-8/ (44-47) *Jesus reveals the identity of their true father.* _“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”_ a. *You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do:* The religious leaders brought up the issue of parentage by insulting Jesus in John 8:41. Jesus replied by explaining their spiritual parentage - they were the spiritual children of the devil. This was evident in that their desires matched the devil’s desires: the desire to kill and deceive. i. “This verse is one of the most decisive testimonies for the objective personality of the devil. It is quite impossible to suppose an accommodation to Jewish views, or a metaphorical form of speech, in so solemn and direct an assertion as this.” (Alford) ii. *He was a murderer from the beginning:* “Cyril and some others think it is the first murder, that of Abel, that is in view (1 John 3:15), but far more probably it is the introduction of death through the first sin.” (Dods) b. *When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources:* Jesus gives us some insight into the character of Satan. The lie is core to the devil’s character, and he is the deceiver most dangerous of all - the deceiver who has deceived himself. c. *But because I tell you the truth, you do not believe Me:* They rejected Jesus because He told them truth they did not want to hear. It was not because He spoke lies. d. *Which of you convicts Me of sin?* Again, Jesus gave His enemies - who hated Him so badly they wanted to kill Him - an opportunity to declare some sin in Him - and they could not. This was another remarkable testimony to the sinlessness of Jesus Christ. i. “We are often so interested in the fact that they found no charge to say that we overlook that other fact that the really striking thing is the making of the challenge. It betokens a clear and serene conscience. Only one who was in the closest and most intimate communion with the Father could have spoken such words.” (Morris) e. *You do not hear, because you are not of God:* Jesus pressed home the point of spiritual parentage, which was evident by their actions - notably their rejection of Jesus and His word.

@@DavidGuzikEnduringWord Thank you for elaborating further on your interpretation of this particular verse. I agree with the interpretations pertaining to the nature of the devil. However, this does not answer my question as to who are the current descendants to the Pharisees, those who followed the devil and are still following the religion of the devil?
@DavidGuzikEnduringWord11 ай бұрын
The simplest answer is that Jesus is not speaking of a physical lineage of people, but of those who allow their minds and hearts to be influence by Satan. They Pharisees were those who trusted in themselves, looked down on others, and thought that they were favored by God because of their own supposed self righteousness. I hope that this helps.

@@SA-ht5fwit wasn’t so much a religion they were practicing. They were still practicing the Jewish religion but not with their hearts. Jesus said the devil was their father because they claimed God was their father. He’s basically telling them if that were true, they’d believe Him. But their rejection and persecution of Him is the work of the devil. There’s no way to know who the descendants are because we don’t even know who these men are by name. But it wouldn’t matter who their descendants are because their descendants may very well be saved.
