Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram said that the opposition will come together against the BJP for the 2019 general elections and put up a formidable challenge. Senior Congress leader made these comments at the launch of his book 'Speaking Truth To Power'.

You need to take issues to the street and compel the silent media to speak on the subject Look at the recent farmers agitation ..heldby CPI ( M ) in Maharashtra... congress is a bigger entity in Maharashtra...but where were they ? I appreciate the leadership CPI ( M ) has done in this issue which compelled the state government to agree to their demands. Al least CPI ( M ) was sucessful to take up the farmers issue to the streets and and press the ruling class ... It is a time for congress to introspect ... Thesedays congressmen do not have committment to people .. What they need is only powersharing and brokering deals...this culture should change... Congress philosophy shall be for selfless service . As far as job creation goes, we should give credit to the BJP. For example, if 3 crore Mudra loans were delivered and taken, then it simply translates to creating 3 crore jobs. And, if a loan borower employed an average 3-4 people to help business run, then it means Mudra bank yojna has so far gave employment to more than 10 crore people. Then, people got jobs also because of rail and road projects which the govt says were doubled. Unfortunately, the govt has not so far come out with the exact employment data, which is giving opposition a chance to humiliate the govt.
