The bulb assembly is able to be removed from the h4 base (just twist and pull). It also looks like your drivers side bulb was diagonal instead of vertical, which is wasting half of the light by throwing it up (as seen on your gear age door) but is easily corrected by making sure the bulb is properly secured to the h4 base.

Hi Alex, Yes they are still in there, but they did require me to aim the headlights. I went out to a dark parking lot to aim them and they've been doing fine since then. - TG

the rubber protection, so water doesn't the headlight don't you think it is safe to put it on the bulb like the halogen? why just throw it away?

Does your high beam indicator still work with these in there? I have a 2004 Tacoma and mine stopped coming on with the LED's but works with a halogen in there. One of my LED's finally went bad so I'm going with OPT7 next and hoping I don't have this issue to worry about.

Hey tango, I just installed them and I couldn't get the clip back on. The thing holding in the bulb is the boot itself. Is the clip needed at all?

That clip needs to be very carefully spread out, then very carefully stretched over the cooling fins. It's a test of patience for sure, but once you get it over the fins they will clip in like they're supposed too.
