I have to say this is the most bizzare feature ever, and this is the third video I've come across (and by far the most informative) it's taken a while for me to understand how it works. Thank you so much.

Great instructional video . . . thank you. Here I am nearly 6 years later after your post learning from it. I have a Hero 3 Black that continues to run perfectly and will use the loop function for my kayak fishing trips. Lots of shear boredom with moments of "holy mackerel, I caught something!"! Again, thank you very much.

Sweet thanks for this video. I think I may have figured out this looping thing. lol. I drive a truck and we can drive for long periods of time. I have a go pro hero 3+ black with a 32gb card. There is just no way that we can film our full day of driving. 10hrs driving 14hrs on the clock, etc. So this may be the solution because it can delete old boring driving. What would be the best setting though? hhmm. I'd have to make sure to if anything did happen to stop the video right away or it could record delete what just happened while talking to cops, exchanging info, etc.

I don't know why GoPro can't add a simple 'DashCam' Mode that simply records five minute clips until the Card is full and then deletes the oldest File. They could give you the option the press the 'Tag' Button while recording to 'Protect' that File (when you see Big Foot) and it will not get over-written. The problem with using the Looping feature as a DashCam is that it still saves the 'Bank' at the end of each journey. So, you still have the hassle of having to Format the Card every now & then. They could easily add this feature in an update

v good explanation for the 20 min looping. what about max loop ? anybody can interpret max looping mode ?
@sinkitlim85724 жыл бұрын
i understand that the max setting will record until the SD card is full, then erase the 1st clip of that interval. but what if there is a 2nd bank ? like if i were to press the button to stop recording, then press it again to start recording ? For example, my SD card is able to record 2hrs 30mins worth of 1080P videos. My first bank of clips is already 1hr 30mins, if i start another bank of 1hr 30 mins video, would it erase the 1st bank's clip or would it just stop recording ?
@tangogolf41159 жыл бұрын
Hi John, If something happened on minute 19 for a whole 5 minute time period then the camera would record 1 minute of the "UFO Landing" in the last 1 minute section of clip 4 and then 4 minutes of the event in in the first 4 minutes of clip 5. I know it's a bit confusing but the more you play with it the better you'll get!

Can you delete a specific clip in the bank?
@tangogolf41157 жыл бұрын
Hi Jao, Yes, you can delete as needed but you'll need to know which clip you're looking for after you transfer them into your computer. Be careful you don't delete the wrong one. - T

Great video - terrible feature for using gopro as a dashcam. The SD card fills up instead of overwriting the oldest clip so you're forced to reformat.
@tangogolf41159 жыл бұрын
Hi Bence, I'm not sure to tell you the truth, my experience has been strictly on the Hero 3 Black Edition.
@007tallguy8 жыл бұрын
now i know what i was doing wrong, lol. i had my cam set for 5 minute loop thinking the card would fill up with 5 min clips. instead, it gave me one bank of 1 min clips and then it would repeat that cycle, overwriting the one min clips. in other words, that mode would only use up 5 minutes of card space rather than filling the card and then starting over with the overwriting. i have to assume if i had it set for "max", then it would have filled my card. in 45 minutes of recording time, i ended up with only the last 5 minutes being saved. i'm glad i wasn't recording anything too important.
