SMM3 will definitely be 2d, but we might have a separate mario maker game with 3d. Most makers are bad at making ideas (look at those stupid super star genocide levels where you run and kill a bunch of enemies) and they wont be ready to switch to the complex 3d format

Not really. It looks the same, but SMB3 didn't have "the ground is secretly moving platforms at the same speed as the auto scroll". In the SMB3 level, if you're on the ground, the tanks and screen edge both move towards you.

@@Philly_Gamer the super nintendo version of smb 3 via super mario all-star will tell you otherwise. Also, any level that is auto scroll, the view port will kill mario if the space between the left side of view port and the wall get too close.

The crazy thing about that last "optical illusion" is that in a game it is generally more accurate to say that it is the world that moves rather than the player. That is, if you were to take 2 screenshots at different times, the bigger difference between the two images will more so be the backgrounds rather that the player's position. So with this "illusion" it is actually just breaking the illusion that games normally employ, using the moving platform (that are visually actually stationary) to make it clear that the stage is and always has been moving.
