a good brief video for DWDM systems. A few points on protection : - MOTR (transponder) module can itself provide protection using integrated OPS. (at the expense of having another line port redundant) - Trunk OPS can be deployed in photonics where the OPS card makes switching decisions solely on the Rx power. - Client OPS can used in MUX , where an external OPS card can provide redundancy between clients(100GE or OTU4) either in same transponder shelf or different transponder shelf. - We can have mesh protection in photonics layer, of course software defined routing is there using photonics control plane. intended protection routes or a combination of routes between originating and terminating sites can also be decided beforehand. - The L0CP mesh restoration is rather slow ( since it finds & creates new path depending upon N number of factors , like spectrum availability in possible paths, any potential alarms in those paths as well ) - OTN switching to have
