It’s a remarkable burner. It was the first modern stove to design the burner around thermal feedback strong enough to vaporize kerosene and diesel. Prior to this all the modern modular burners utilized a generator loop to achieve this.
@Thereal111t11 ай бұрын
@@Lorin-GabrielLeaua-fm1lw it doesn’t have a tube style generator. The nova, Primus Omnifuel Primus multifuel ex and Polaris have heat transmitting fins that conduct heat to the base of the stove where the fuel is heated sufficiently. They’re like heat sync fins. At 12:37 you can see them when he pops the flame spreader off. Those are not hollow. They are solid metal fins that transmit heat to the area around the jet at the base of the stove.

I have the Nova, the Dragonfly and the Soto Muka. I love the Dragonfly also and I like the Muka but it is a more complex stove. The Nova is technically the best of the stoves and it is the one stove I'd take with me most of the time. The heat concentrator is amazingly well designed and this thing runs like a rocket on kerosene. I think the heat concentrator design makes it ideal for heavier fuels although I haven't burnt diesel in it. I generally burn kerosene, it is safer and cheaper (here in Australia). It is also an amazingly compact burner but doesn't over do the weight aspect. It is probably close to the perfect stove and it has the built in shaker/magnetic needle which works just fine. I enjoy the videos and your stoves seem to run fine on cheap gasoline!

I love my Nova. I picked one up over all other liquid fuel stoves for two reasons. 1. It fits into the Trangia 25 and 27, it’s the liquid fuel stove that Trangia originality supported. 2. It does not require a jet change to burn other fuels.

I have an Nova from late 90s and the connector to bottle was different to now. It didn’t have the twist function, just a push in/click The pump also looked different at the base. There was no valve on the bottle either. The new one looks to have addressed some of the issues with the older one leaking and being unable to shut off

I love your reviews, just got the Optimus Polaris myself, with the Quietstove silencer. Wouldn’t have known about the cap if it wasn’t for you channel! Only tried boiling water for coffee at home with a gas canister so far, but I am absolutely loving how silky smooth the flame is. It’s also so dmn quiet, couldn’t be happier so far. Can’t wait to head out in the woods for some field testing! So thanks again for doing your awesome videos, take care!

Good day mate. I have had a NOVA for more then 20 yrs. I abused the crap out of it while in the field and over seas with the Canadian Army. Great price of kit. However some happened and mangled the pump and hose. The body of the stove is still great. As the hose and pump are finish I'm wondering if I can up grade my NOVA with a Polaris hose and pump??

I appreciated this video a lot. The only thing that keeps me from ordering it right away is the noise it makes. The MSR Whisperlite is supposedly significantly better there, but very hard to impossible to simmer, and it has that plastic pump that I'm not a fan of. I might go for the Nova, since I never cook on full blast anyway.
@jiujitsu20004 жыл бұрын
Have you taken a look at the whisperlite universal? I have a few videos on my MSR playlist that you can look at

@@jiujitsu2000 I don't really need the gas canister option (I've got a titanium gas stove, Robens Firebug), but I'm now really torn between the Optimus Nova and the MSR Whisperlite. I would prefer the pump design of the Nova and really dig the flame adjuster, but the Whisperlite is a bit cheaper and supposedly a lot less noisy. So in the end there are two questions for me: How loud is the Nova?, and How easy is simmering with the Whisperlite? I didn't think it would be so hard to make a quick decision on a liquid fuel stove.

The nova was a huge leap for Optimus. That Still prefer the old Optimus silent burners like the 111t, 111c, 111d or 199! I love my 199’s the difference is these 111series van born not only the fuels the nova can but also alcohol stove fuel! Thanks for a cool video. What fuels have you tried it on? Do you need to pump up the pressure in the bottle if it is used for a prolonged time?
@jiujitsu20004 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I don't use the stove as much as I use the Optimus Polaris. The only fuels that I've ran through this stove are automotive gasoline and white gas. The stove works excellent however and reminds me of the Polaris in many ways. If you're going to be connecting it to a fuel bottle and using it over a long period of time you may need to pump occasionally to keep it pressurized. This will ensure a strong flame. I hope this information helps you out and that you have a great day. thanks for stopping by

Nova is far more efficient i n burning fuel and preheating. They have removed much metal in the Polaris burner to accommodate gas with same nozzle. That has compromised Polaris's efficiency compared with Nove. Preheating of Nova could be about 10 sec.
