I’m a big fan of optimus stuff and have used there blocks for two builds now, both 5950x + 3090 strix and 13900k + 4090 strix One time I had to use their CS to resolved stripped holes on 4090 block they took it back and had it fixed and back to me within week and half with consistent communication after they reached out Definitely a fan, though I’d never recommend them to someone on a budget. You buy them for aesthetic (I’m anti rgb on my blocks and hate having to disable or rip out cables on other blocks) and build quality, not for a couple degrees over cheaper competitor….that said, when 3090s had those VRAM heat issues Optimus was first to have a block that resolved that

@@revolverswitch I like to use tellurium copper because it machines easier than pure copper. I don't plate them because I haven't setup a process for that. If I would I'd use an electroless nickel process because it doesn't change geometry/dimensioning as much as electro plating. Sometimes I'll skip machining microfins and use a cold plate from HeatKiller and sandwich it into a bigger block. I'm still trying to figure out how Camino skives there microfins. Have you noted any reall thermal changes between bare copper vs a Ni coating? I imagine it is so thin it doesn't inhibit thermal pass through noticeably. My understanding around nickel plating on these components (cpu lids) is used for gavanic corrosion resistance and oxidation protection etc. I imagine a smoother surface on coated fins probably helps flow rate and smoother surfaces always mate better(IHS) I imagine it offers a bit of toughness/hardness too. Ironically, copper components and fittings could function as a great biocide, but Oxidiziation would eventually make them less conductive. I'll eventually get around to doing some expirements, lol. Think about water cooled vapor chambers. Just something different. Throw in A compressor and evaporator side haha.😂 Tinkering is why we all do this right? For GPU blocks I have had mostly Bitspower and Hydro Copper. No problems with either one, and only owned Hydro Copper because they were the only block available for the Kingpin GPUs. I do have an Alphacool block on one of my 4090s and a Bitspower on the other one and there is no difference in performance. I've never had to use their customer service, but I would suspect that Alphacool would be better if I needed to. I did have a Barrow block once and it was OK except that none of the screws that came with it were the correct size. I had to buy all new screws. It wasn't worth the hassle to ask for their support for the extra $5.00 it cost for new screws.
