Well yes, but actually no. This song existed since 2004 on 500 vinyl copies signed by Chris Vrenna personally and there were vinyl rips in FLAC, duh. Doom3 had extreme amount of audio compression. The whole game sounds like a 96kbps off compressed stream. Half Life 2 had something similar with MP3 compression on sound effects. GTA San Andreas from 2004 had extreme amounts of 32khz low bitrate ogg compression too. Different from GTA Vice city with pristine quality 192kbps mp3 radio stations. Gta 3 had IMA ADPCM compression on all radio stations and strong mp3 compression on sfx. Today we have high bitrate quality on all games.

To this day i still haven´t played through Doom3... I used to install and start it up again from time to time thinking "oh well it cant be that bad.... the graphics are pretty outdated ... it shouldn´t scare you that much". And although i know there´s pretty much nothing dramatic happening in the first 2 levels it still creeps the hell out of me - the ambient sound - the music - the people talking - the lighting. I always put it down again pretty fast :D

Gotta say, as a kid, this was like the second or third game I really played. I had dabbled a little in Super Smash Bros Melee and Sonic Adventure Battles 2. Before Doom 3, the only other games I had thoroughly played was Halo CE and Halo 2. That was quite the shift in tone lemme tell you.
