Interesting - I started trading Index options. I started with the XSP/SPX. Experimenting. I like it so far. I like the European style very much - you can remain patient and setup situations if a breakout occurs to make up the difference on a defined loss with a vertical spread.

I think it's the best way to derive value from selling calls/puts using spreads. All you have to do is close the positions before expiration to limit the risk on automatic exercise at the exercise date. Tons of liquidity make them lucrative.

Thx Tony. Another excellent presentation. I am wondering about the profitability of the credit spread strategy with XND because the ivol is very low, which is one of your criteria for selecting that strategy. The ivol being low, how is it possible to generate the revenue to achieve the minimum 1/3 of the width criterion. Can you please answer those 2 concerns ?

Thx Tony. Tax advantages and European style are definite pluses. I've traded SPX but I never liked the B/A spreads. I hope the B/A spreads are better in the XND index. Do you have a strategy for hedging regularly? I think hedging is the most difficult aspect of trading. To hedge or not to hedge...that is the question, lol

Index options never get assigned. They are cash only. So it would be whatever risk you have in your chosen spread.

I followed your strategy and found 4 out of 5 become negative. I doubt that waiting for so many days will help you to keep the premium. Price get dropped in between and it's melt the premium, it's hard to recover by expiry day. so 50/25 delta is bit risky, I would go for further down, may be less premium but less chances my short put get into ITM. example. NUGT, NDX( 12th,14th july), OIH,SNAP, PTON. all having similar strategy but now all are deep red.
