I wish this game had the balls to have any npc be killable like in F:NV. Imagine how this would have played out if you could just kill these characters. It’d have more weight. In NV it felt like you were just some guy in the world. Now in F4 you and a handful of people *are* the world and therefore cannot be harmed with any consequences. They really took the teeth out of Fallout. In NV if you killed the BoS and went to veronica and admitted it, you had to kill her. Or if you fucked with the NCR too much Boone would fight you. In here Preston just goes, “I despise you and literally want to kill you. We are polar opposites in belief and there’s nothing holding me back from trying to kill you. But ill still follow your every command and follow you into battle and hold all your stuff 😊”

Technically making Preston essential would have been done anyway, because the minutemen are the failsafe for if every other faction hates you, but honestly there should have been a way to destroy the institute by yourself.

The minutemen are literally the only faction you can't slaughter in fallout 4, they're basically the backup plan so you can still finish the game even if you anger all others which is why they're pretty much a blank slate with no real ideology. Stop complaining for a second and enjoy the game, you fallouts fans are so annoying.

I honestly love how Preston continues to be around after this as a broken idealist who feels burdened by the world and and becomes suicidal. He just hates the main character so much for what they did he just ends up staying alive out of Revanchism and the fear of what you will do in his absence.

No it wouldn't. New vegas has a failsafe faction too. Yes man. Just go try killing him or pissing him off. No matter what you do you cannot lock yourself out of the main quest with him. Preston and minutemen are just the fallout 4 version of yes man and the securitrons. They even both have a parallel outcome (independent new vegas/independent commonwealth).

I hate that one opinion that Trash Can Carla gives you to rob her but then she doesn’t want to sell anything to you anymore but she keeps going back to sanctuary after you start building it up for group from Concord. But that grenade trick comes in handy when you sell the Ghoul Billy to the slave trader but Billy is gonna be mad you sold him so make sure Charisma is at 10 and you’re wearing a clean or dirty suit black rim glasses and a trilby hat 🎩 should give you an extra 4 charisma points but it only raises you to 13 charisma. I suggest starting with 10 charisma to make all your conversations easier but your health also has to be at tops too or charisma goes down because of infection. Happy trails fellow wonderer.

I worked to hard with the minutemen to be a traitor for power. I took 100 nukes and wiped out Nukka World and moved into the restaurant. That felt good. I stayed a couple months the moved back to the Rocket gas station outside Sanctuary. Cait and me r very happy there.

My game have no Preston, Marcy, Jun, Sturges and Mama Murphy. My SS ignored the shouty man at the balcony because she had things to do. 2 hours later (in-game time) the raiders got to them. She has joined a new mercenary group instead. It’s of course a mod. Bethesda have gotten to fond of making NPC essential some with no other clear function. They should restrict the number of essential characters and at least in Skyrim remove fall damage from NPC at least until “ spawn randomly high in the sky and the gravity does the rest “ is annoying.
