Opus VII (Library Collection) by Amouage - Episode 39

3/5 for this distinct fragrance by all-star perfumiers Alberto Morillas and Pierre Negrin. Think church incense for this one. A very dark, green fragrance that is quite good, but has a little too much of an "armpit" vibe for me. I enjoyed researching some of the notes on this one - a lot of new ones in here!
Note: I originally said 'galbanum' as GAL-ba-num and then went to gal-BAN-um...I double checked at the pronunciation is GAL-ba-num, apparently.

Real recklessness would be walking into the woods with a suede jacket on with a white fur lapel ; during hunting season . Not that I've done that. 😒 Sample Tom Ford's Vert Boheme for galbanum . I don't care for Vert Boheme , but I do like it galbanum/oak moss combo You will know galbanum after you sample sample VB though . I like the cumin in Opus IV Excellent choice Encre Noire . Wonderful use of vetiver. Excellent review

OPUS VII is not one of my favorite, not because it's more on the masculine side, but because I cannot digest it's very dry, bitter, green aroma.

Agreed...I used 'sharp', but I think you hit it on the head with 'bitter.'

For me, no there isn't. I love the Library Collection so very much for this very reason. I saw they re-released Opus VII this year and gave it a name (and bottle change). It is so unique...I wish I could have all of the Library Collection!

@@RobertLaTuso Hi Robert, great question. I can't say with 100% certainty that they are the same. I imagine they are, but the updated bottle and added name, I wouldn't be surprised if Morillas and Negrin tinkered with this a bit. I'll ask around too. Thanks for the great question.

Hello Friend! Plz suggest me that which Opus is more better between Opus vi, Opus vii or Opus xi with good projection, longevity and good to nose???

Hi Ahmed! Wow...difficult choice! I have reviewed all three, and here is what I think: Third place goes to VII, though it is perhaps the most distinctive (it evokes strong sensations of religious ceremonies and incense) and the black bottle is striking. Second place goes to IX, but just barely...longevity and projection are on par with VI...it is the most unique scent of the three and I find its use a bit more restrictive. First place must go to VI...just a gorgeous scent and is truly regal and I would love to wear it anytime, anywhere. You really can't lose with these three, though...amazing! @@ThatCologneGuy ya I heard so much about Opus VI with compliments. I'm also thinking to get Opus VI but not going for Opus VII and IX. Because I have already Amouage "Jubilation XXV" and a beast fragrance from the house of Amouage, that is called "Interlude". That's why I'm going for Opus VI. Happy Holidays n Thanks for your time.

A green, woody fragrance? I love Lyric Man, Journey Man, and Sunshine Man, but this sounds like a match made in hell for me. I just sampled Imitation Man and am have a hard time understanding that fragrance.

@@ThatCologneGuy I sampled Imitation Man. I like the opening, but the drydow was awful. The drydow of Imitation Man was a straight up floral boquet.
