Great vid Kev, I was 39 for double so lov that you popped the measage in your video. We seem to perfer single shots for our flat whites and found them sooo inconsistent with the jet that I flicked to time based but water volumes can go from 25 grams to 40 still. For the price of the machine it does supprise me. Also a couple of times now if I grind and steam at the same time my machine can have a mini stroke and stop both function (feels like a power draw issue)

Hi Kev, this is just the video I was needing. You tried loads of different coffee brands and get a similar grind. I hope your on Volume setting as well not timed. I have your Chocolate Brownie blend (with the new yellow bag). My Jet is not having it, I was on 35 grid. I cleaned the grinder & tamper. I have back flushed. Refilled with fresh water. Put in new beans, set grind to 25 (10 less as suggested). Water flow hardly any, said adjust to 28, then 31 &now back to 35, but water still not flowing as expected. Any suggestions please? If I lived closer to you, I would have driven there and we could have done a compare machines, same as you did the coffee 😀

Hi Dave, the suggestion was to go at least 10 settings coarser if you're switching over to freshly roasted beans. If you're using fresh beans and you're finding it's choking at the setting you're at, I'd just experiment with a coarser grind - I have heard from several people recently who're finding they're up around or even beyond 40 with choc brownie, so there are clearly some that are calibrated particularly fine. Ta Kev

@ Hi Kev, do you have any friends or production team that have a jet as well, you could do a great video, comparing Jet machines dialling in? With your Chocolate Brownie blend. 👍😀 it would be a very interesting experiment especially after comments about other peoples Jets having different grinds to yours.

My biggest issue was the dose being so big, I bought an aftermarket basket that's 17g which gets a more reasonable output. I've found the settings for the auto tamp when others use the machine and get a better shot with a manual wdt and tamp at a slightly finer grind

Tried a jet in John Lewis a couple of weeks ago and it was fantastic, pushed me into ordering one. Finally got it last week and feel like it’s faulty? Used some volcano works beans and had to dial up to like 36 which seemed high and even then the shot time seemed ok but the puck was still super soggy and taste felt off. Have tried with the notes beans they recommend (the free pack sent out) as they have a dialling in guide and I wanted to see if that worked better - sage recommended a grind size of 15 but I’ve gone all the way up to 36 and the shot is still too slow and not right? Feel like I’m about to cap out in my grind size not sure if the machine has issues and needs to be returned or it’s my expectation! Have wasted so much coffee trying to get a decent shot out… (for reference double basket in doing a double shot)

Thank you my oracle jet wants to grind your chocolate fondant blend at 43 so I’m just sticking with that - but I’m such a newbie I don’t know if it’s correct 😂😂😂. I have scales perhaps I’ll try the 1:2 volume thing 🤣
@Coffee_KevКүн бұрын
Yeah there appears to be quite a few Jets out there calibrated really fine, so they're ending up at 40+ for brownie, I usually end up at about 23-24 somewhere around there. Cheers, Kev.

Hi Kev, I have a question regarding the use of puck screens with the Oracle Jet. I’ve noticed that using a puck screen affects the grind size settings for the same coffee-the flow is slower, which requires a coarser grind to achieve the right extraction. Is this normal? Would you recommend using a puck screen with the Oracle Jet, or does it interfere too much with the machine’s performance? Thanks in advance for your insights, and thank you for your amazing KZbin channel-your content is really helpful!
@Coffee_KevКүн бұрын
Yeah unless you use a nano puck screen, very think mesh, using a puck screen will cause issues with the tamp fan machines, as the tamp fan is tamping at the right height in the basket, you're then dropping the screen on top, so it'll add height, reduce the headspace, and act as if it's over dosed. Personally I can take or leave puck screens, they help to keep the shower screen clean, other than that I don't think they're massively useful - but if you want to use one I'd just say get one of the ultra thin ones. Thanks for you very kind words :-). Ta, Kev.

I have just one question. When can I get CWorks coffee in Australia? 😁 Great dial in video with the Sage. It matches my experience in general with coffee beans, finding supermarket beans, or older/darker roasted beans in genearl, need to be ground a bit finer than fresh beans at maybe what would be more a medium roast than a dark roast.

Kev thanks for this video which has been very helpful. However clearly something is wrong at my end most of my grinds are up at the 40 mark to get a good extraction and flow! Even more of a concern the Redemption you used was down at 26 but mine is up at 40. Am I doing something wrong?

Exactly this issue I have with my Oracle jet. Have freshly roasted beans and the oracle jet wants me te set the grinder to 42… But still very inconsistent results. Ive written down. I changed the beans once, not the grinder settings 27 sec 28 sec 39 sec 31 sec 26 sec 45 sec 43 sec 32 sec == other fresh beans === 45 sec 43 sec 29 sec 56 sec 29 sec Sage support suggests to descale the new machine 😬 Is it strange to think that there is something wrong with my machine ?

Man, for a 1900 euro machine, it’s crazy how many times I’ve heard people making excuses about stuff getting fixed in the future… I was determined to get it the moment it was announced (I’ve been close to purchasing the Oracle Touch several times, but was sure a more modern version was on the horizon, so I kept waiting), but after seeing reviews and videos like this, addressing issues with it, I’ve completely cooled off. I won’t buy anything (much less at that price) on the potential of it getting better at some point in the future.

Hi, thanks for all your vids. Do you know where Sage offer live demos of the Jet, as don't want to commit so much money without giving it a go first.
@earthworm4821 сағат бұрын
Not sure where you live as this may not help but the John Lewis in Bluewater has a sage rep by their machines often who makes coffees and shows off anything you want on the machines so a John Lewis might be a good bet!

Banger! Saw you had Origin’s Stronghold beans there. How did you like them? They weren’t my fav although I was super excited for a more ‘premium’ bean
@Coffee_Kev3 күн бұрын
Yeah I enjoyed them, I didn't have time to really play around with all four coffees but just getting to "ball park" dialled in they were all very enjoyable, Stronghold from memory was quite deep in dark chocolate notes but had a sweet after taste. Cheers, Kev.

My jet is set to brew by volume and lately been taking about 40 seconds to brew a double shot. Backflush, clean, preheat and same results 😢 Beans are freshly roasted.

Hi Kev, the barista setting doesn't "read" the setting also. If I go from espresso to cafe creme, and change the grind setting correctly after grinding in espresso. (saves time, while the shot is running) then select cafe creme, I get a message change grind setting to a number which is not the number I saved the cafe creme shot. Looks like a bug also. Another bug is filling the water through to top, I you wait until the low water message you still have to take out and in the waterreservoir while it's already full through the top. That filling won't reset the message. Software version: 2.7.10 I don't use the barista guidance for now. Just look at the timings and be carefull a setting of 25 has some slack before it goes to 24 or 26. I always use the same method to be more precise: go to 24 and then slowly up until it changes to 25. Never from 26 to 25, this is to get the grind session more the same after changing. Still learning with the Jet, thanks for the information and followup on this one.

I'm on the same software version and I don't have that water fill issue, so it could be a problem with your machine.
@Coffee_Kev3 күн бұрын
@Frank-cr1uy hmm I've never had that issue with the water, you may want to bring that up with support. Cheers, Kev.

@fuzziestlumpkin3 күн бұрын
@@Frank-cr1uy It could just be that the float in your water tank may be a bit sticky, might be worth checking it moves freely and there isn't any scale buildup or anything in there.

My Jet told me that 45 was the correct grind size on 2 different beans from Beanz. Tried resetting etc. No output at all below 38. Support told me it was because the grinder was so new and sharp and it would settle down after 3 or so months. I returned it.

Hi kev. I’m having consistency issues with a barista impress touch. There’s a massive discrepancy between two shots back to back. No settings changed anything. My first shot is always perfect at 25 seconds. I’ll flush the group head grind again and pull another shot and it’ll be super slow at around 35-40 seconds and obviously tastes terrible. No idea why. Hope you can help?
@Coffee_Kev3 күн бұрын
If you start off with your first shot by going a bit coarser than you'd usually start off, and (just for testing) pull a shot and throw it away, just use shot 1 for pre-heating, ignore the shot time. Treat shots 2 & 3 as shots 1 & 2. If you do this, are the next two shots consistent? If so, then this would show that all you need to do is more effective pre-heating, and you can do this with a turbo flush, so instead of wasting a shot, lob the dual walled basket in the portafilter, pull a blank shot with this, which mimics the pressure in the basket that would be there during a shot, so it's pre-heating at full brew temp. If it makes no difference, and the two shots after using the first one for heatup, are just as inconsistent, then there'll be something else going on, and you may want to get in touch with support. Ta, Kev.
@kevinor88113 күн бұрын
@ thanks a mil. I’ll try this asap!
@fuzziestlumpkin3 күн бұрын
I doubt this will get "fixed". Pretty sure the guidance works by doing a calculation around how long it takes the given amount of water to get pushed through the puck. If the amount of water clearing the puck is 0 and the amount of time is essentially infinite, there's no way for it to calculate a setting, which is probably why it just defaults to jumping up 3 settings. .
@Coffee_Kev3 күн бұрын
Ninja have managed to to do this, without a quad core processor ;-), the barista assistance on the Luxe Cafe makes a grind size prediction that tends to get you very close within one or two attempts. So it would surprise me if with all the processing power the jet has, it's not going to be possible to do a better job of the guidance. Cheers, Kev.
@fuzziestlumpkin3 күн бұрын
@Coffee_Kev That's interesting, and it does this with the same extreme grind change? It may just be that the ninja doesn't get as fine... Sage could certainly lessen the issue by doing what you suggest in the video and jumping up by 10 or 12 after a full choke... We all know the real fix is just to never use supermarket beans though ;)
