Why does Celtic give me a sense of nostalgia? If I didn't know any better I'd think this was an original song since I've haven't played this game.
@RebeccaETripp7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Well, it is mostly original- I'd say about 90% of it, since this original tune was just a simple 18 second loop with only 1.5 layers. In that sense you're right. That being said, that little tune is very powerful, indeed. I think the composer managed to convey an ancient feeling with it.
@stompsalot Жыл бұрын
this is so stunning, Rebecca ❤ trained classical singer here, and I thought you did a bang-up job here...people always forget that singing has so many flavours across a spectrum for different use-cases; e.g. I might have gravitated towards opera, but I always struggled at MT and certain choral-styles despite loving them musically...I think your voice fit this aesthetic perfectly here. 😊
@RebeccaETripp Жыл бұрын
Hey, thank you so much! I appreciate it!
@HighPriestFuneral8 жыл бұрын
This went above and beyond expectations and I always hold high expectations for you! As others have noted you managed to include a sense of Zen-like equilibrium. Your lyrics make it appear as a legitimate prayer to the Goddess Nayru (who I'm sure you're aware is likely the Goddess of Time mentioned in MM). In this song there is also a sense of impending catastrophe, the line "Of faraway skies, of darkening hue" reminds me of Zelda's prophecy from OoT where she says the skies became dark and shrouded the land and this in lyrics culminated in a plea for the Goddess Nayru to manifest (which leads to disastrous results in WW's opening as the Goddesses take drastic measures to seal Hyrule wiping out the vast majority of people). Since those last three lines are rather inexact and could apply to any of the Golden Goddesses, that further sense of this can also be related to WW's opening which lends the song an entirely more melancholic approach, while I imagine is not intended (could be wrong)but is interesting to ponder on.
@RebeccaETripp8 жыл бұрын
+HighPriestFuneral You will likely enjoy the game theory video I'm planning to submit about the Zelda series. It will talk in depth about the three goddesses, their affiliations, relationships with one another and with humanity. You just added many extra layers of depth to my lyrics that I hadn't consciously intellectualized, and I greatly appreciate it! :D I think, a lot of the time, artists of all sorts (like oracles) cite higher, inspired truths (at least partially) by accident, and that our works convey multifaceted messages and transcendental meaning. Such is the way of all art/communication. We are speaking on many levels at once! I left that last line vague on purpose, as I wanted to allow others to reflect on its meaning. The goddess with hair spun of gold could also refer to Zelda, Hylia or, as you say, one of the golden goddesses. Perhaps, I meant for it to refer to all of them at once, as they are, in a sense, facets of the same force of good, for which, Zelda is the icon. Really, the story of Link is that of a chaste and holy knight, guided by a beautiful, transcendental empress of purity and divine wisdom, love and gentleness- a story we may recognize in a variety of myths. Both are breaths of greater, Platonic forms.

This video is, for me, a gift precious beyond compare, something I thought beyond my capacity to ever experience again. You have my eternal gratitude for this wonderful upload. The first time I played Oracle of Ages and came upon Nayru singing this song I experience something amazing. I lack the words to even begin to explain what I felt in that moment. That feeling was never there again on any replay of the game. But when I hear you sing this song there it was again. Ok, what am I talking about? When I first entered the game screne with Nayru singing I was completely enthralled by her song, just as the animals in the game listening to her were. Then, while Nayru continued her song the image on the screen of my Gameboy color cut to the drawing of Nayru and her audience. Without a conscious thought, I said aloud the words: "she is beautiful" I was stunned. I could not believe that I had said those words. I am asexual and aromantic. Never once in my 37 years of life have looked at a person (female or male) and felt sexuals desire toward them. I do not experience the slightest compulsion to have a romantic partner. Even basic comments like "she is hot" or "that guy is handsome" are beyond my comprehension. Yet somehow I saw Nayru, heard her sing and said "she is beautiful." I have zero understanding on any level of what occurr in my mind that day. All I know is that I never felt it again on any replay of Oracle of Ages. The experience was gone forever. That was until I heard your song. Thank You for allowing me to feel human once more.
@RebeccaETripp2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing that. It was a very lovely thing to say, and a lovely story. There are many kinds of beauty in this world. The beauty of nature, of song, a friendship, of art in motion. All of these things can be found within the goddesses, right? ^_^

Forgive my tardiness. I wish to thank you for your music here. About half a decade ago I was undergoing very dark times in my life. I was in servitude of helping a toxic community in the name of my profession of gaming. I was used alot high expectations were set before me. I used my skills to help me get through. 20 years of experience. I became very drained. I aided a friend 5000 miles away through his separation for three years, many sleepless nights I feared greatly if I may hear from him again. I even opened my door for others that asked for shelter. I have lost four relatives in 5 years. I asked one of my other friends "from all I have endured what was I running on?" He replied "for you a normal man would have clocked out by the 3rd month your will was at 11 percent. It's not by much but, you crawled your way out of it." The reason why I'm saying all of this is because I wish to thank you. Your music helped salvage me through the hardest times. I wish I could reciprocate you dearly. Alas I do not have by much. So I will say this. Your music is very influential. It creates a ripple effect of an aura of healing and appreciation for life. It is not only beautiful but, it has a far more greater effect than you may think. Thank you rebecca you truly are one of the good ones. Many blessings to be bestowed upon you and I bid you well in life. Once more thank you!!!

@@RebeccaETripp You are very welcome! And might I add that your voice sounds like an angel's.

Excuse me, I meant to say "your voice sounds like an angel's", not "angles". My bad lol.

I swear your remixes have healing properties =w=
@RebeccaETripp8 жыл бұрын
+Francistein They do. :) Music has had proven clinical affects on both physical and psychological health. My own music targets grief, trauma and loneliness. It's meant to renew a sense of overall peace, self love and acceptance. It's also meant to reconnect people to what's colloquially referred to as "the inner child", which is why I often create remixes, since existing pleasant childhood memories compound this further. The process of reconnecting to the "inner child", which society would have you believe is impossible, is absolutely necessary for fulfillment, equanimity and self awareness at large- as you you can see, I'm very passionate about this! I think you would get a potent dose of that "healing" from my Flower Waltzes series as well as my remixes. Of all the things I've made, they are the most resonant with the human heart, metaphorically speaking, and are designed to reset one's mood.

+RebeccaETripp Thanks for such a thoughtful response; it doesn't strike me as odd that you are so well versed in the concepts and ideas regarding spirituality and transition to adulthood when your music constantly illustrates that. As a psychology student that's about to graduate, I often find myself wanting to incorporate activities that can help my future patients reconnect with their "self". In that regard, I'm very interested in the transformative effect music and other forms of media can have in relieving pain. I will start listening to your "Flower Waltzes" playlist now; I'm sure that by the end of it, I will feel more spiritual than Link holding the three spiritual stones above his head ;)

Francistein Thank you. hope you enjoy going through them. I think you could help people to connect to their true selves through music. I've personally found it highly effective. :)

I listen to this once in a while and just drift...It's so good! You did an amazing job! I just hope that if they do an Oracle games remake, they give this song the same treatment they gave the Ballad of the Wind Fish and add lyrics too! (Though yours would always be my favorite!)

If the fairies do exist, surely they'll have a voice like yours, Rebecca! ^_^ Congrats, another win! Do you think you could do something like this with Wind Fish Ballad? :)
@RebeccaETripp8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Prado I already have that one all planned with with lyrics and everything. ^_^ It'll be filled with bittersweet, yet warm longing. A pink, orange and gold song, like an evening on a beach, staring into the mountains. (I plan songs using synesthesia.) I also have one for Lon Lon Ranch almost done, which will be called "Malon's Song". Thanks so much for your comment.

I always think the Oracles are reincarnations or forms of the creator gods and it's reflected in the games they appear in. Din's game is largely focused on combat and strength being based off power. Nayru's is focused on puzzles and navigation focusing on wisdom. I don't know what Farore's game would have been if it was released or what it's focus would be on.

I have thought about this a lot. The Oracle of Secrets... maybe a more personal journey, a la Majora? Maybe more of an emphasis on things being buried/underground? Maybe more equipment based on transformations and revelation?
