Oral-B iO Series 2 vs 3

Does the io 3 has the same motor as the top of the line io toothbrushes like the io 9 and io 10 ?

I own the pro 5000x which has that same light ring. However it only detects if I'm pressing too hard. At $57 each in a pack of 2, it seems like a good deal however the loud sound is a major downside and along with the lacking feature if I'm not pressing hard enough. Granted my teeth always had that smooth clean feeling afterwards despite that. Nevertheless it goes without saying that the iO series still will cost a lot more in the long run because of the incredibly expensive brush heads, regardless of the initial price of the handle. Even with the quieter motor and the green light pressure sensor, I'm not sure it would justify the cost of the heads Nevertheless, excellent video

io2 is advertised as being very quiet. Surprised it's louder than the io3. Do all io have linear magnetic drive? Have you seen numbers on motor speeds across the lineup?

Only the iO2 has the Linear Pulse Drive, other iO models have a frictionless magnetic driven motor. Oral-B have not published nor will they provide any numbers on motor speeds across the range. To our knowledge/from our use all models, with the exception of the iO2 are configured at the same speeds.

@@ElectricTeeth 1. Why not publish io speeds? They either published of made available all the pro series numbers over the years. 2. What are the pros/cons of linear pulse drive vs. frictionless magnetic drive?

I am afraid you are asking questions I can't answer completely. 1. I am not Oral-B and don't know why they haven't/won't publish such information on speeds. I guess to 'protect' their technology. The best I have gotten from them is how the different modes on the iO affect the brush had angle of oscillation and frequency. 2. I am still waiting on a detailed explanation from Oral-B. Despite asking I didn't get a decent response. The main thing is the power/intensity of the motor.

how can you tell if io3 is fully charged? my mum just bought one but can't seem to find anything online regarding it

The power button will pulse with a white light whilst it is charging. When complete the light will turn off and stop pulsing.

I’ve just bought the iO 3 but it doesn’t seem to automatically stop after 2minutes, I presumed it would but am I wrong?

No it does not stop automatically after 2 minutes. You need to press the power button to turn it off.

All these electric brushes are absolute money-grab products. Sure they do a decent job, but the prices simply do not make up for the dumb design. Nothing to indicate which mode you are at; 3 speed settings but all to operate via one fiddly button instead of some other input system? Really nasty design.
