would you not bring your rocket parachute flares and other pyrotechnics that are on the bridge with you to the s. craft?

You definitely will (but only if time permits). During emergencies, when you have to abandon the ship, time is of essence and since the lifeboat already has distress flares, your priority should be to bring other important equipment like SART, EPIRB, etc.
