What's going on everybody?!? SeanPierceJohnson here with this week's episode of Stompbox Saturday. On the stompin' block this week is the Getaway Driver Overdrive/Distortion from Orange Amps!
What does this pedal do exactly? It's the classic Orange Amp crunch in a box. But it does much more than crunch, crank the gain and you're treated to the sweet saturation of modern classic like the Rockerverb, OR50, and more!
We'll test it out through a non-Orange amplifier and then see how it stacks up against my Rockerverb 100! Can it get me the sound I love? Let's find out!

I use mine exactly to substitute my rockerverb 50MKII at rehearsals that I have to play in others amps in clean chanel! Nice to hear the same from you!!! Only a question: do you like to use the getaway to crunch (low gain)? I’m preferring, in this situation, to use the TS-9.

Thanks Leonardo! I appreciate you watching. I don’t use the Getaway Driver as a boost. To me this is a pedal that wants to do the bulk of your gain. Having said that, it does play well with other pedals in front of it. I’ve boosted it with a Fulltone OCD, Way Huge Green Rhino, and a Keeley Compressor and they all sound really great on top of the Getaway Driver.

I have a terror stamp but annoyed I can't switch off the distortion in a live session. Was thinking of putting this in my lineup so I can get some clean with the stomp of a foot. Do you think I'd still need my Ibanez overdrive pedal with this? Or is this pedal enough? Hope I'm coming off clear here. Great video of this pedal btw.

are you wanting to use the Getaway Driver as your "main" distortion tone with the Terror Stamp as a clean platform?

hmmm, okay. so i would say you could get exactly the result you're hoping for. though the Getaway Driver does have a LOT of output volume, at least in my experience. The thing that is a bit hard with the Terror Stamp is that it's not typically a "clean" amp, so it takes some finesse to get the right clean sound. I do have a video on the Terror Stamp on the channel, so check that out. I do put it on a board and try some different uses out.
