And you are also wrong about the blue guards being a catholic regiment as up until the 20th century only protestants could hold office in the blue guards!!!! Basically what you have written has come from a journalist called miss deveney all of what she has written has been well and truly debunked

Oh brilliant!!! It's such a pity that alot of people don't understand the history behind the battle of the boyne and just view it as sectarian violence. The point of the 12th of July celebrations is to celebrate the victory over a king who tried to ascend the throne with no rights to it.
@baillie6776 жыл бұрын
Willo_ 1647 What rights did William have?
@colhughes38926 жыл бұрын
what is being celebrated is the liberation of England from the oppression of the Catholic Church who at that time were a despotic entity who were persecuting protestants it is also celebrating freedom of religion and civil liberties for all (regardless of faith) and the setting up of government as the ruling power
@baillie6776 жыл бұрын
Col Hughes What about the oppression from that liberated church? It carried out terrible atrocities against many innocent Catholics and this has carried on to the present day.Its a celebration of sectarianism and the people who march are an embarrassment to a civilised society.

It celebrates what the English call the glorious revolution of 1688, culminating at the battle of 1690. In a nutshell The rightfull king of England was overthrown and went to Ireland for support. His son in law Prince William of the house of orange ( dutch) pursued him with an army of mainly Dutch, German and mercenaries made up of some English and protestant Irish. The Prince was funded and supported by the French king and the pope. So in essence it is celebrating treason against the crown. Or an English civil war fought on Irish soil
@therealmccoy27886 жыл бұрын
Although it is connected to the English war fought in Ireland, the Orange order formed much later in county Armagh. It's formation was largely to organize groups to throw Catholics out of their land, the lodges were formed for the "lower classes", this allowed the gentry to keep their hands clean.
@colhughes38926 жыл бұрын
To throw catholics off their land or did they just leave? That's exactly what happened what you must admit is that it was militant catholics who were arming themselves and attacking protestants throughout the 1780s that caused the that's why the peep o day boys were formed all of the Catholic organisations do in fact pre date both the peep o day boys and the orange order as those that were formed first were in fact the aggressors in the armagh conflict just like all the other conflicts it was militant violent catholics we can go back to the early 1600s if you like even as far back as that militant catholics have been killing protestant settlers you can put whatever spin you like on it lad and try and change history but that won't make a difference as there is always going to well read like me who has researched the real history of republicanism to refute your spin shall we start talking about actions like the scullabough massacre where catholics rounded up 200 men women and children locked them in a barn and set it alight killing everyone inside or shall we talk about the massacre at portadown where again men women and children were rounded up and forced over the side of the bridge with pikes (spears) stabbing them and dropping them into the river below

Separate church and state in England. The head of state should not be also head of a church, a church that very few people attend, as Islam is fast becoming the dominant faith in England. The head of state in any country should represent all of the people and not as it is in England, a diminishing minority.

@WHU634 жыл бұрын
Yea Andrew Islam and sharia law would really help us over here. Unfortunately for you however democracy exists at present and the Orange Order are allowed to apply to hold marches to commemorate their Protestant history and heritage.
@andrewbrand24336 жыл бұрын
William of Orange would not have had one penny to fight the Williamite wars were it not for financial help from Pope innocent XI. Historical fact that the sideline drunks would never have heard of.
@colhughes38926 жыл бұрын
Historical fact the pope was scared that Louis was setting himself up as the ruler of the Catholic Church in france another historical fact William used that to his advantage took the money and made England protestant as soon as he landed in the country and instituted the English Bill of rights which made the throne protestant thus making sure that a catholic monarch can never sit upon the throne and the pope cannot ever hold sway
@environmentalhealthhazard96186 жыл бұрын
That is incredibly arrogant of you. How do you know what they know or don't know.? In my experience people who say things like that are the most ignorant of people.
@RobertK19936 жыл бұрын
So true many Ulster Scots don’t know it in fact portrait of the pope with King Willy III. King Billy also did not care about Ulster or Irish Protestants or English Protestants he was only interested in thwarting Louis anyway who ever worship a dead king is guilty of idolatry I thought Protestants don’t believe in that.

We don't worship him what a stupid thing to say lol unlike roman catholics who worship Mary there is a statue of her in virtually every roman church lol

You have no knowledge of the Catholic church and that is why you are living in ignorance with your big drum. Catholics don't worship the mother if Jesus, they venerate her in accordance with her importance in the bible. I bet you would like people to say good things about your mother, wouldn't you?

I am from the Shankill Road and this is an absolute excuse for an orange parade, if you want to see how to do it properly you are welcome to come and visit. The worst bands I have ever seen in my lifetime
@Willo_16476 жыл бұрын
Angela Cunningham the parade was small compared to other regions.
@colhughes38926 жыл бұрын
Sorry Angela but that was uncalled for regardless of the standard of bands on parade we are all brothers and sisters with the same beliefs and to denigrate your brothers and sisters is just plain wrong the orange people of Liverpool have always given a lot of help and support to the dispossessed in the 70s we had major collections of food and provisions when people had been burnt out of their homes 2000 women and children were evacuated to Liverpool for their safety and they were fed and housed most of which were in orange people's houses and for you to denigrate us is just shocking behaviour and most orange people and bands have been over the water and walked on parades and to a man have always been given the utmost of respect and welcome
@Willo_16476 жыл бұрын
Col Hughes thank you for your reply to Angela.. I didn't want to say that myself as I don't like to cause any grief but I'm glad you said that.. Yes the lodges in liverpool aren't as big as they used to be but the lodges that do walk are loud and proud no matter what size they are. I would like to see more lodges come down from Scotland though as I know that the Heros of the Somme and Norris Green went up there for the parades through Shotts and Glasgow
@douglastaggart77616 жыл бұрын
Angela Cunningham your comments are uncalled for unlike Belfast where you have whole areas too choose from which are all protestant in Liverpool we dont have exclusuve protestant areas it's unfair too compare the two it's easy too be a orangeman in ulster we may be small in number but are as just as proud as you are
@colhughes38926 жыл бұрын
I would like to see more bands from scotland and ulster myself unfortunately it clashes with their own 12 th celebrations although we have hosted many bands over the years from scotland and ulster
