My grandfather (WW1 and 2) and father (WW2) would have been so proud of these men, as i am.

Of course they weren't. Its was a national theatre production and they were unpaid volunteers wanting to be involved. Don't belittle their contribution to the memorial by such an obvious and quite pointless comment.

They represent the normal people who fought in the Great War, it could be a shop keep, teacher or factory worker. The men that served were all just normal people from different walks of life, just like the people who volunteered to represent them here.
