Although I do not play DST often, my favorite base location is oasis because: 1. No risk of wildfires. Big plus during summer. Lessens need for flingomatics (to those who say move base to caves, have not tried that yet 😅) 2. Antlion near for appeasement 3. Volt Goats near for meat and horns 4. Cactus availability in all seasons 5. Pond in the middle of desert, fishes galore? 6. Desert has lots of barren ground for base building, it is free real estate! 7. Bones galore for your waterproof clothing and bucket'o'poop needs. Some of these perks apply to Dragonfly Desert too, so in theory (at least for me), it should also be a good location.

I think oasis is very overrated. I spend summer in caves where you dont overheat and no fires. Oasis is usually very far from other useful stuff like rock biomes, pig king, swamp etc. You only need to do the oasis/antlion stuff once. Ignoring antlion is fine, in caves you can mine the boulders or move them to make indestructible walls for easy depth worm killing. The only time i would consider making a base in oasis is for public servers if people join in the summer.

Usually, I start a mini base at spawn, and then move over to the pigking, but keep everything near the spawn for new players to be able to craft and such without having to travel over to me.

I would recommend deciduous biome (pig king) or Savannah biome (near beefalo) because they have a great source of meat, land, resources, and defense. Also pig king village gives labor and armor. What are your recommendations?

i was playing w my friend (late autumn) and someone joined, immediately asking "where is the base". my friend was fighting and i was making shit, so i told rhem to wait since we didnt have nitre. night came and they said "thanks for leaving me to die in the dark" and left. like, i get not being able to survive hounds or swamp areas if ur new, but atleast gather useful materials and make torches for the night and explore a bit before just going "WheRE iS BasE"

I use to make my science- alchemy rush, in the same entrance of the caves, near the sinkhole, the reson for this is that i dont like the idea of nuclear anihilation by meteorites, but since seafaring exist, the boat may be the best option for base, Beaver mode in the most pure essence

oasys is good because you dont have to worry about smoldering, you have permanent vegetables with the cactuses, goat horns for buffs, vultures for meat, fishing for trinkets and food in summer, and can kill the antlion quickly to avoid attacks. Pig king on the other hand means you dont have to walk far to give trinkets, the pigs will protect against hounds and will farm you honey/singers in spring. the cocoons will provide a good source of big meat, and the trees there will provide filler for meatballs. both biomes you can live off of without leaving if you wanted to.

The Oasis is great. One big upside is no smoldering at all during Summer, also You are close to Antlion so you can kill her every Summer. Pig king is kinda obvious somewhat. Close to your biggest trade partner xD

Labyrinth is best base location. You get free storage as well as the Elderly One. Do not underestimate the great elderly. Only downside to labyrinth is that it’s harder to get cats for the wickers.

idk why pig king biome is so popular. everything you find there can be moved, and you dont really need to trade with him very often. i like to base near something useful like the swamp of beefalo (cause fuck tooth traps) and also near a useful wormhole. im playing wurt rn and im in the swamp right next to a wormhole that takes me to the beefalo and a triple mactusk biome. im also real close to a wormhole that takes me to the mosaic. my map is perfect actually

Oasis is very overrated as you should just make a cave base for summer. You only really need to do the antlion stuff once. The [caves ]boulders from antlion are actually useful. You don't need to use pig king that much. You can relocate volt goats, pigs, beefalo etc. I would recommend basing somewhere where you best travel options to get access to swamp, rock biome, pig king/glommer. Using wormholes and boat bridges. Then using cave base for summer. My current base has guardian pig boon [infinite light] and 2 wormholes next to eachother. One which leads to pig king, one to swamp.
