Can someone explain what he did at 0:59 ? Feels like chord in left hand went down from a half step but can someone explain to me the concept ? It souds very apppealing

yup 4ths down a half-step...mccoy...the short version of the theory for this particular case: the G-C-F moves down to F#-B-E which is a basic bare bones voicing for F# sus which acts as the tri-tone substitution of the dominant (C) of the target chord (F minor). didnt play it too well and 6 years later i am still working on these concepts 🤓

I'm a brand new piano player since this January taking piano lessons. My teacher's main song that hes teaching me is Mr. PC. Do you think this is OK? because I find it very overwhelmed. But he keeps telling me once I can play this it will help me in all areas especially blues and jazz.
