Queen's Escape was inspired by the 4 years the Belgian royal family stayed at Château de La Tuilerie during WWII. In particular, it is for the Queen. The king took shelter at a different location in France. We've named each of our guest rooms after great Queens of the past and present from around the world. Margrethe, Eleanor, Catherine, Himiko, Cleopatra, and soon our bridal suite will be ready in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
With it's sprawling green meadows, 100-year-old trees, and historic location in the small medieval town of Gluges, the 200-year-old château is truly an escape. With 5 guest rooms to rent and a stunning Orangery, we look forward to welcoming you for a visit or to host your wedding or event.

Karen. So glad you were able to spend Thanksgiving with your family in SC. I live in NC and there is nothing more inspiring than a good southern meal. Was very close to my own menu. And a good jog or for me a long walk after the meal. Bo the windows will look great when finished. The finished result is all about the prep before the paint. You both really do take time to do things the right way. Best to you both. Deborah USA😊😊❤❤

Karen and Bo The Orangery is going to be beautiful when its finished. As much as I love the chateau the Orangery is my favourite building on the property. There is something magical about it. The interior and exterior are so beautiful and the woodwork is stunning. I can't wait to see when you get to open it up for weddings and parties and all of the people who will get to enjoy it. Bravo. Karen I am so happy that you got to go home and see your family and friends and spend some time in your hometown. Good for you. Cheers to you both!

Yes, food prices have gone up shockingly since Covid. In the UK as well. I believe that I spend about 35% more with regard to my monthly food bill. Certain items, I noticed, have actually doubled in price. This is truly shocking. It was so nice to be shown you and your Dad going fishing, food shopping in the USA, equipment hire, meeting with an old, but young looking, friend, and Thanksgiving family lunch/supper. Thank you so much. It was most enjoyable to watch.

All the prep work is such a tough slog but will be worth it in how your windows will both look and last. Hope you can protect your lungs though, Bo. Glad Karen got to visit family and friends in America. Always good for the soul to reconnect. Blessings on your adventures!

Bo not wearing any protection has me worried too. All the old buildings I've looked at buying in France had lead paint on windows and such. Sanding them like this could be detrimental to his health. 🫤

🍎 Karen and Bo, Beautiful, fabulous, sunny day in our part of the world! We see you had a great time in South Carolina. Next time tell your sister the foods you would like to bring back and then she can get everything a little at a time for half the price on sale, as she can freeze the cookies and it'll stay fresh. My husband is on the road so we sent him the link about your husband doing the sanding on the windows in the Orangery. He said there are two ways to avoid all that dust going everywhere. The first one is, tape the vacuum hose to the side of the sander and turn on the vacuum when you're sanding, so the vacuum hose can suck up the dust when you're sanding and have a lot less dust everywhere. The second one is, take out the pin in the hinges of the door and take the door outside and sand it outside. It can save him a lot of time cleaning up and inhaling all that dust that can affect his throat and breathing. Just wanted you to know! Now we have to go have our delicious pot pie we made today. I'm sure you'll be cooking some soon! Au Revoir! Farvel! 🎄🇺🇲 🇩🇰 🇫🇷

🍎 Karen and Bo, Beautiful, cloudy, windy day! Cooking up a storm today with homemade bread pudding and biscuits for the weekend. Just wanted to correct ourselves that we had no intention or the time unfortunately, to visit France at this time as we are busy with some California real estate. Must tell you your best choice for eyeliner and mascara is dark brown, not the black as it makes your eyes look harsh and bigger. Definitely not underlining under your eyes with the pencil, just the mascara as you don't need it since you have big full eyes. Your eyes would look beautiful with two or three shades darker eyeshadow, which would be a medium brown on your eyelids so your complexion doesn't look so white on camera and very little medium shade of blush when you do use it. When you use lipstick, it should also be medium brown because bright colors will also make your complexion look more fair. As for your hair color, you would take 20 years off of you if you choose the color of your husband's hair. It would be a beautiful color on you since you are very fair, or a beautiful shade of blonde. White hair definitely makes women look older and they can't get away with it that people will say they look like they're in their 70's. Only men can get away with white hair. As a beautician I know all about hair coloring and makeup. When you have the time and if you're curious, you can take 20 years off of you by trying my shade of colors for a brighter complextion and better choice of hair color. Ciao! Au Revoir! ☃️🎅🎄

I love the makeup and hair advice. I am so out of my comfort zone in France with no regular stylist nor spa. And it’s not that they don’t exist. I’ve just traded in my salary for this chateau B&B. So, salon color and nice makeup have slipped sadly through my fingers. That said, I’ll look for the browns. The local shops have a crappy selection. Perhaps I’ll order on Amazon. I’ve tried going darker with my hair. Bo is not a fan of that. 😂 Nor does he approve a shorter cut. Men are funny.

Hi! I'm just watching the moment you said it would be nice to be able to rent near your chateau and to have something like a home depot. Everything might be a little far from Martel (it depends on how long you'd like to drive) but anyway: if you want to rent tools, or anything like a cherry picker, you might want to look for a "Loxam" or a "Kiloutou". And "Brico dépôt" is, I believe, the closest place to a home depot. Hope it helps!
@queensescape
@queensescape 6 ай бұрын
We have a Brico Depot in Brive (40 minutes). But not the equipment rental so far as I’ve seen. Certainly it exists at individual shops. I think it’s just the ignorance of where to go that is frustrating. We’ll learn in time. America = convenience
@alr.3310
@alr.3310 6 ай бұрын
@@queensescape I think I've never seen a place both renting and selling in France unfortunately. It's probably less convenient than in America indeed. You can also try and find a local "agence de location" or local landscaper (location paysagiste / location espaces verts). Good luck for your projects and thank you for taking care of our heritage and for sharing it with us so well.

🍎Karen and Bo, Beautiful, sunny, gorgeous, windy day! Just for the records, you mentioned coffee is not allowed in your bedrooms and eating in the bedrooms. We don't believe in eating in the bedroom as well. As far as coffee, tea and wine, we don't drink them, only water and milk. Unfortunately millions of people have to take medication because of coffee, tea and wine and refuse to give it up for prescription drugs. The problem with those beverages is, it is so strong because of the caffeine and alcohol content you're like a zombie all day long and then you know you're supposed to go to sleep at night, so your body gets more relaxed but not the mind. Most people will drink all the above before they go to sleep or a couple hours before and so the mind will wake up because of the stimulant contents that stimulates the brain because it takes hours to get rid of it. You wake up or have sleepless nights and also causes snoring, because when you're sleeping in the laying position, the sugar and caffeine comes up to the throat, and you're sleeping and stays there and so causes snoring. So coffee, tea and wine is just like a drug. It's very addictive and it's hard for people to give it up and so always have to go to the doctor for prescription medicine. Any beverage that has alcohol content and you drink too much of it, also causes anger and aggression and depression. If you drink two glasses of wine, that's equivalent to a shot of whiskey or vodka. Just wanted you to know. That's why we stay away from coffee, tea and wine. It's like poison to us because we want to sleep like a baby at night! Just maybe you will try our no drink coffee, tea and wine diet for a year and see if you can sleep like a baby again! Ciao! Au Revoir! Farvel! Bye for now.🎄🇺🇲🇩🇰🇫🇷

I gave up coffee once and had a migraine for a week. But once the week was over, I felt good. I ended up drinking a cup of decaf every day because I suppose I liked the taste of coffee and the break from working. I got back in the caffeine habit by accident. I bought some pre-workout powder mix not knowing it contained caffeine and pretty soon was addicted again so decided I may as well just have coffee. Bo doesn’t drink it and agrees with you about its drug status. He’s right of course. I drink a lot of herbal tea, especially when it’s cold in the winter. Wine is no good for my diet, so it’s a now and then treat maybe with a meal out. Bo drinks soda. Don’t get me started on how bad it is to drink soda. 😊 Your baking sounds lovely. ❤️
