Hey there, I really loved that you enjoyed Sandakan, my hometown. Actually a lot of people do not know that most of these critically endangered species (that means its more endangered than a panda) that we have in borneo, are decreasing rapidly over the last 30 years because of deforestation and poachers. Sun bears are hunted for their teeth, nails, liver and even paws. Orangutan lost their home because of deforestation and some are shot dead when they enter palm oil estates looking for food. Sumatran rhinoes and bornean pygmy elephants are hunted for their horns and tusks, which some claims to have medical properties but thats entirely bs. And when mama animal is dead, so will the baby. Of course the palm oil industry had provided for the local economy, but it also took away some of our precious animals. What we have are bornean variant of the animals and they are usually the smallest of its species, we have one of the richest ecosystem and wildlife in the world i think its worth protecting. ❤️ A better world for the animals.
@ian.and.ana.5 жыл бұрын
Such a shame but it's good that they are trying to protect the animals now. I know there has already been to much damage though, it breaks our hearts!

@@ian.and.ana. Yes so far we've been trying to do a lot of conservation works, and enforcing on the law to protect animals. Although there are still news of elephants being poached for their tusks its devestating, but the local government is doing good job preventing that from happening again.
