I documented a ride on a “drezina” - motor trolley pulled by a motor locomotive, departing from Tanečník Station, near the village of Oravská Lesná, in the north of Slovakia close to Poland. The train gets you to 935 meters above the sea level where you can enjoy a view of Orava nature from a wooden tower and you can see inside a traditional Goral Wooden Cottage.
A 6 km long journey up to 935 m a.s.l. and down takes 1 hour 10 minutes.
If you love this ride and want to know more, go to the official website of Orava Forest Railway

“Pri prvej koľaji pozor, do stanice vchádza vlak!”
“Watch out on the first track, a train is coming into the station!”
A cannibalistic witch is still living there in the forest, in a little house constructed of gingerbread, cake, candy and windows made of clear sugar. There comes the clearing in the woods and we can spot the bloodthirsty witch riding on her broomstick.
A few moments on, as the train advances further into the woods, Pinocchio's sitting there, probably having a rest after he underwent humiliating experiences while travelling the Slovak country.
Further on, we descend from the hill saddleback Beskyd to valley Chmúra, to an open-air museum in Vychylovka, on the historical switchback forest railway system.
The switchback system is a technically and historically unique piece of construction art. It has been preserved since 1926.
The historical switchback forest railway official website is only in Slovak (in Slovak HLÚŽ - historická lesná úvraťová železnica)
