I got mine today too! It feels so premium compared to the V2. I ordered the white skull n co grip a few days before they announced the TotK ones… I’m considering ordering that one as well, but the white looks nice too. Edit: After using the Skull & Co grip for a night, I’ve determined the Satisfye grip is more comfortable for me anyway, so I’ll order that one!

This unboxing was a genuine joy to watch Emily! The sheer joy and excitement you had on your face is pretty much how i felt when i unboxed the PS5 on launch day, holding the system in my hand, the Dualsense controller, setting it up, ahh! It's amazing knowing our hobbies can bring about such joy! For me it's like being a child again if that makes sense! Regardless, like you said, the color schemes from just pictures alone didn't really do it justice as opposed to having it in your hands - the colors do pop a lot more in a good way! Enjoy Emily!!

Going from the LCD to the OLED is a huge upgrade. The colors are so much more vibrant especially with how Nintendo likes to use a large color palette in all of their games. Mario 3D World looks amazing on the OLED.

True, but also Nintendo has admitted that some earlier games where designed with the LCD screen for the colors to depict the intent they had in mind. For instance the grass in BOTW is way too flashy with OLED. That’s why they added a « calm down » mode to emulate what they meant to convey.

I've also bought my (yellow) lite in 2020 and have been playing on it since then. I love handheld gaming so much, it's my go to for playing games ! It's so nice that you did that comparison between the two models! Thank you so much for that ! Now I'm seriously tempted to upgrade as well 🙈 My bank account will look quite hesitant though, since I spend tons of my budget on games alone already 😂🙈🙈 On the other hand, I, as a woman, prefer buying games over shoes and purses...so maybe I'll allow myself... Nice overview, thanks! I picked mine up from BestBuy this morning. This is my first OLED model too as I have been using a regular switch since release. This is an incentive for me to play more in hand held mode as I rarely do that. I still have the Zelda Joycons that were released a few years back so I think they will be a good alternative too. OLED screens are so nice for gaming. I learned that with the original VITA. It is so much nicer then the slim model VITA. It really does make a big difference, IMHO.

How exciting.... What a huge upgrade from the lite!!! You will love the OLED screen especially if you're a mostly portable gamer. I got the OLED at launch but switched to the Pokemon OLED back in November so I could not justify a new OLED for this version but I do want those joy cons. I upgraded from a launch Switch to the Splatoon OLED a few weeks ago and have no regrets. The colors are so much more vivid. I also got the Skull & Co grip because it was dockable. The trigger grips make it so much more comfortable. Enjoy your TOTK OLED!

Wow! Wish I could justify a console upgrade from a launch model Switch because that Zelda Switch is stunning. I think the dock design is my favorite bit. I love my Satisfye grip for traveling, but the fact that it doesn’t dock is the main reason that it isn’t a permanent feature on my console.

Holy crap! I was just about to comment this. This has happened to me TWICE now. The first time about a year ago when I got the OLED. The second recently when I was transferring saves from another Switch to the OLED. It's an absurd oversight by Nintendo. All play data should be synced to the cloud like Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox.

​@@orbalology Since you have both Switch consoles you shouldn't lose your playtimes if you do a direct transfer from the users menu on both consoles, I believe. I was able to retain all my playtime counters and was a major concern of mine when upgrading to the Switch OLED.

The Tears of The Kingdom oled is really clean. I never even thought about wanting a Lite console. I like having more options with the Switch. I have split pads myself. For me hands down better than joy cons. Have fun with that oled 👍 Now your tempting me to get one.

I've owned every iteration of the Switch and the OLED is by far my favorite. Definitely not a "must have" if you play docked primarily but if you play a bunch in handheld, I think it's the best option. The bigger, more vibrant screen and a kickstand that doesn't suck (finally) are all great improvements if you game on the go. The extra memory and LAN port on the dock is nice too. Congrats on the upgrade Emily! I had to pick up the Zelda one too and love it. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on it as you get more time with it and test out the different grips. My personal favorite is the Satisfye grip, though the Skull & Co one allowing you to dock it is pretty neat.

I picked mine up from Best Buy today. It's so beautiful 😍. Since i already have a white Switch OLED, the TOTK one will stay in the box. I hope you enjoy it! Switch OLED has such a vibrant and gorgeous display, making it hard to go back to any of my og Switch or Switch lite systems. The joy cons are amazing for lazy gaming. Playing split joy con in bed or on the couch with the Switch docked to the tv is my preferred way to play now. But when it comes to handheld play, Switch OLED is the best.

I did the same thing, but I’ll always prefer the Lite’s form factor and solidity, along with the buttery, silent buttons and that useful d-pad. The Zelda edition really looks good on my desk though…

I've always preferred handheld consoles over TV ones, about Switch I'ver never understood why most of games have a bad optimization with small menus, tiny icons/words and so on. I totally ruined my sight with Tales Of The Abyss on Nintendo 3ds and I realized that when I turned to 40... Very good to see you updated your Lite to a Oled model, you will gain about sight and the possibility to choose between docked and portable experience. The only Lite plus is the D pad, very comfortable for platforming games, but this beautiful Oled model is much better on every other aspect! Congratulations for the TOTK limited version, I'm a little jealous about it! :)

Oh yes, I love when games have UI scale. And it’s very frustrating when they don’t. Like, if you’re going to have your game on switch, you need to optimize it!

I just simply won’t play some games because the font is too small, or the color scheme is jarring

The Hori Nintendo switch OLED slim tough pouch is a nice slim case and I've had good luck with the Orzly glass screen protector for the OLED model also. I've been using both for over a year no issues.

I am so happy you got the TotK edition to the OLED. I got my first switch as a OLED too and I am so happy with mine. This edition is sooo beautiful wish I had it to but I only have my OG colour switch OLED.

The Joy cons are amazing! I absolutely love being able to have my hands resting separately in whatever position is most comfortable. Everyone talks up the Pro Controller and I'm sure its great. For me though, the versatility of the Joy cons make them the best way to play Switch!
