Congratulations Dan, both on the stunning work so far- I don't think I've seen the Orbital logo ever look better- and also on the superb standard of the video. You never made bad videos before but it feels like this one is a new level of professionalism, from the voice-over to the shot choice and editing. Can't wait to see the finished guitar too!

Awesome work! Always interesting to watch! Haha I share your opinion about hand planes, I am not a fan of non electric tools that require a bunch of other manual tools just to make them work right.

Exact same method I use for routing the truss cover and access. I dunno why people over complicate the process, this way is so simple and using the clamps as stops means you can not mess it up.

I used to always see people use elaborate jigs that require precise placement and guide bushings on the router, and it just seemed like so much extra work to just rout a straight line.

Have you considered getting a cnc laser cutter/ engraver for your inlays and cavity covers, or maybe even just a scroll saw?

Which fret end dressing file is that? It looks a fair bit more usable than my flimsy one...

It's the Crimson fret end dressing file, I got their complete fretting tool kit a few years ago and have been using it ever since.

@@rauschguitars I have a few Crimson tools and I have to say they're a very high standard, but I never have needed to replace my Stewmac fret end file- the quality of that is also superb. If you're in the US, save money on postage and go for the SM fret ednd file. Not a big fan of their levelling file though. Too aggressive, it leaves a lot of chatter. A sanding beam and quality paper is much better. And you certainly don't need to pay a premium for that.
