Orbital Overlap Diagram for CH2O (methanal, formaldehyde)

This molecule contains ONE PI bond, which requires the carbon and oxygen atoms to be sp2 hydridized. There are also THREE SIGMA bonds, and two LONE PAIRS on the oxygen as well. You can show this visually with tetrahedrally-arranged sp2 orbitals on the C and O, and 1s orbitals (for the hydrogen) bonded to those.
