Thank you for explaining everything so well. We ordered this for my elderly mother in law, and Im going through your video to write down exactly how you did things so I can show her in the same manner. Thank you so much.

It’s an amazing peak at the future Unfortunately the price is out of reach for most, but the technology isn’t anything that advanced... I can imagine this being affordable comparable in price to consumer electronics And I imagine it being integrated into electronic products we already have like cell phones

Really well done video. I do have a question, I am looking into purchasing the orcam my eye pro but am worried about its reliability-more specifically, how well it can stand up to daily use like being dropped, if it has a tendency of catastrophic failure, etc. if you have used this product for a while, could you give me an idea of how hearty it is when used daily for a year plus? Its a pricey item, and I don’t want to drop that much cash on something that will fail do to a single accident or inability to withstand ddaily use for mmany years; not trying to hate on the item, just really cautious. Hopefully my question makes sense, and thank you for your time.

Can this read you subtitles on movies? And what is the difference between the Orcam Myeye 2 and the Pro version? Does the two devices supports a Bulgarian language? Because i am wondering which one to get for my father please :(
@danthemancinaa
@danthemancinaa 2 жыл бұрын
Hello I would imagine it wouldn’t be very functional for reading subtitles off a screen. Also you would have to be standing in front of the television. I am unsure as what languages are supported on the latest device. I would recommend contacting someone from their support team.

@@danthemancinaa Thank you very much for the reply :) Unfortunately, i've tried to contact their team 12 days already and no one is giving me the information i need and i am little angry because i really wanted to get this device and they are not acting very professional by now... Only one guy has contacted me by email but he is very suspicious and acting like a scammer so i am not sure what to do :( Never mind i guess i will try to find a distributor here in my country :) Thanks anyway!

So this only interprets digital or type print, but can’t help with handwritten print? If true, sorry then since I hand printed a note I sent.

I'm visually impaired, low vision. and dyslexia. Cannot see street signs, but can see the street. Cannot read the ingredients on food products, and am allergic to many things that cause anaphylactic shock. So i need help at the grocery store to spot those ingredients when selecting... Cannot see print on papers unless it is 24 point font.. Most mail is so small i can't read anything. I can still see faces, where i'm going, doors. That isn't the problem.. And now, i'm monoocular, my right was blinded, and i have cataracts on the left. The eye has had several surgeries so because this is not a 50:50 risk factor, and i could be left completely blind, i'm worried about being independent.. i need to read my glucose monitor and be able to see the syringe to draw insulin. i cannot see the prescription bottles, so that is my biggest concern with going thru with a risky cataract surgery Would the OrCam My Eye Pro be the best for me, or will the OrCam READ be what i need..? if i decided to go through with surgery again, i think the MyEYE Pro, if i wait on surgery and go for the READ, then i loose more eye sight, the read won't be enough. I live alone and do not have a partner or family to help. big decision. Do you recommend going for the better one to plan for the inevitable.. thanks.. Doctors are not much help, they don't understand the needs of those who can't see. and there is no support.

I mean The or cam I would probably be best if you can only afford one or the other if you can get both that may be good for you I currently have both devices but it’s a matter of what will work for you I would think the Orkan my I would probably be the best for you if you could only get one

Quick little question. If you use smart read mode and automatic reading mode, can you highlight a tv screen such as Tv menus like dvd menu while pressing on the remote? Like reading the highlighted text to select a setting on the part of the menu screen? It might be a hard question if the features arn’t advanced to do that yet.
@danthemancinaa
@danthemancinaa 3 жыл бұрын
captianbubble it may have a hard time reading a television screen, because of the glare as well as how much information is on the screen. You can certainly read a printed menu.

Does this device have a video magnifier that allows you to see things in live view?
@danthemancinaa
@danthemancinaa 3 жыл бұрын
Kimberly McCarty hello Kimberly, this is not a magnifying device, this is a camera that uses OCR or optical character recognition to take a photograph of text and then read it to you. Once you have taken a photograph of text you can then break it down into sentences or words.

Considering advancement in A.I technology, this seems permeative as most smartphones ( by simply installing low cost special apps) nowadays have much better capabilities for a fraction of cost! This is nothing but a fantastic scheme cooked up by greedy company to take advantage of most vulnerable people ever! In my estimate the cost for producing such a device should be between $50 to $100 a pice, yet retailed at unbelievable price of $4000...!!!

Well first. Its not that easy as you describe. The device is not as a phone camera and the soft.w is deferent. If its that easy and chip do it. There is no other device today in the market.

I came to this video after viewing their website and was unable to ascertain the price. it appears you have to provide them with a huge amount of personal information before they will tell you how much this device costs. I don't like doing business secretive companies. $4000, that is ludicrous. You are right. All this device is, is a camera, speaker and some software. The ONLY thing that makes this different from what you could get otherwise is it easily clips onto your glasses. I think it's time to put them out of business and duplicate their product and sell it for your suggested price of $50-$100 though $49.95 sounds better. I know an engineer who makes up all kinds of nifty electronic gizmos. I'm going to show him the ads for this and I'm guessing he'll be able to throw one together in a week and with my manufacturing/mass production know how we could have a competing product on the market by March. Watch them lower their price to $48.95 in April. Bwah ha ha ha (evil laugh)

We can market this on Amazon the first year, Walmart the second and Family Dollar the third and by then get the price down to $19.95. In ten years they'll be as cheap as dollar store ear buds.

@@nunyabiznez6381 why is it that stupid people always think that hard things are easy to do? I'm guessing your friend thought that you were nuts when you brought that idea to his attention. $4k is expensive, but all new tech is usually expensive at first. This kind of device will always be over $1k though.

@@presterjohn71 Actually he has cobbled together a prototype and did it for $245 and it works. My only error was in the time line. He informs me he will have one on the market sometime next year and he will be able to offer it for sale for $99 when mass produced and still make a profit. He further informs me that he could probably have it down to under $50 within three years of that and still make a profit assuming the market is big enough at that point. Some inventions don't have a big enough market to come down that much. Not everything has to cost a lot of money. For example WIFI. Six months ago I purchase my first WIFI router, before I only had ethernet. I bought the nicest one that Best Buy sold. I didn't read the fine print. The warranty was only for 3 months. After that you would either have to pay a fee of $40 an hour for help online or over the phone or mail it to them and they would repair it for a fee. My router died last week. So I went searching for a solution. I found two that combined would cost a fraction of the cost to get mine repaired. First was to buy a "WIFI extender" which in fact is just a fancy way of saying inexpensive WIFI with fewer features. The second one was to by an adapter that you could plug into a USB port on a laptop and then connect it directly to the Modem via ethernet. The first one cost me $25, the second one cost me $7, both on Amazon. The original WIFI router was $150 made by Net Gear. Considering that it died after only six months tells me that their quality is no where near what the sales pitch claimed. it only could provide me with 100 mbps speed which is identical to what my new "extender" does. My extender doesn't have the four output ports that the extender has but I already have splitters so it doesn't matter. My internet services is claimed to be 30 mbps down and 3 mbps up but always tests at 50-60 mbps down and 5-7 mbps up. I don't do any gaming and I have no problem watching hi def movies with that while I multitask so I am satisfied with it. My point is that many things are way over priced that don't have to be. I take the generic version of a medicine that is normally $160 a month for the regular version. They are identical in effectiveness. I pay $14 a month for it but will be buying it in three month increments by mail soon at $29 every three months. Tiffany & Co. would have you think that their $200 sterling silver rings are of higher quality than the $25 sterling silver rings you buy at Walmart. They are not. I know, I used to work for Tiffany & Co. making sterling silver rings. The only difference is the name. Same is often true for fancy electronics. Sure some things electronic are better if you have a bigger budget but NOT everything. And many things don't have to be. I have a 50 inch TV I bought at Walmart for $300 last year. Ten years ago a 50 inch TV would have cost well over a grand.

Not really, it may be able to help you a bit in a menu screen but it would not identify whether or not you are selecting some thing. But it will tell you if a screen is on or off.
