This is a beautiful Orchestra Baobab’s rendition of the legendary song called “Lua Kata Kema” by José Carlos Schwarz & Le Cobiana Djazz found on the Album “Lua ki di nos” which means “the moon is ours”. José Carlos was a revolutionary from Guinea-Bissau 🇬🇼 who wrote many songs during and after the time of the revolutionary struggle to free Guinea/Cabo-verde from the barbarism of Portuguese colonial rule. The revolutionaries from Guinea in their struggle to liberate our Africa would speak of the “moon” as their allies while comparing the enemies (Portuguese colonists) to the sun that they had to avoid in order to move forward (often during the night) without being detected. The moon provided these warriors and dedicated revolutionaries with all the light they needed in order to fight and defeat the Portuguese imperialists. Under the leadership of Amilcar Cabral, both Guinea-Bissau and Cabo Verde won their independence and as a result of their efforts the “carnation revolution” brought an end to 40 years of dictatorship in Portugal. The Portuguese people owes a huge debt to the brave people of these small African nations. Until the Crocodile in the water turns into a rock, sons and daughters of Africa will never stop fighting to liberate our beloved homeland from the shackles of Euro-American imperialism. #alutacontinua ✊🏾🌍🇬🇼🖤
