Orchestral JV80-02 Fantasy Suite: 1. Queen's Citadel (rpg, roland, game music)

I wrote the Fantasy Suite around 2001 (intending to write more pieces, but stopping at 3) as my first foray into scoring orchestral music via synthesizer. The music isn't bad, but you can tell I was ignorant/lazy with dynamic phrasing and other subtleties! The program for these 3 pieces was inspired by the soundtrack one might hear/associate with Fantasy Role Playing Games (and a little hint of Gustav Holst for good measure ;).
I think that with a little more delicate midi programming and phrasing/articulation, the sounds from the JV80-02 expansion board could still be quite adequate within a soundtrack today.

Having scoured through the synth itself and checked the user performance area I think I can say that the piatti crash is a mix of two sounds from the JV80 Orchestral Board, Preset 249 (Rhythm Set) played at the same time. Try playing the Snare on D3 and crash on G4 simultaneously.

Hello Alasdair! Nice epic track. I wonder with patch name (or patch number) on the JV80-02 is the cymbal crash/piatti we hear at 2.00 and 2.09? Thanks in advance, regards from the Netherlands!

I wrote this when I was quite young and excited. I would love to revisit this work and refine it - alas, I have lost the data :(
