Long response: After only listening to this 50 times I think I got it. At first I thought wqs French: Vive la France, vite, hut. Because the girl sound of thr puclic seems like maman. At a Bastille day parade, perhaps Foreign Legion with english accent speaking French which sounf German. But just can't nake up thr second phrase. Just don't work. Then upon closer listening, the march sound seems to be not human but horses, and it makes so much more sense when analysing the sound space recording and quality and expressing and triangulate. It does seems a high source. And how that captain express himself in the circumstance short and screaming out of breath and heavy. Beside personal from reason. That's the magic and the mesmerising quality, bc we think it is people marching but it doesn't match and a mismatch here put in a mystery. And then I am pretty sure klep just played it up and more himan like rather then changing the marching source. Does would say probably the royal guard in there red and black hat uniform during a parade, jubilee or routine. Thought sounds is more the a routine as it seems the public and the girl are on thr side but way less jubilante then a jubilee pun intended so probably a parade on some occasion or other. Small in size as it wasn't that big of a background noise but an occasion for a parade and horses and the royal guard. Reform Line, with HUT thrn second phrase: On the header, HUT I thought he may have said halte but upon re examination it is HUT. Other thrn that, beside all that, personality that captain probably come from Scotland and with a Grave accent when saying fast and short sounds a bit german plus the habits and circumstance of being on a horse and a parade

(re--form line! 'uick 'arch!) and then ( "on' an' cen'er! 'arch!') -- "Reform line, quick march". Followed by: "Front and center! March". Quite clearly english and not german. The commands are sensible too. Marching the unit to reform the line and then march it forwards. Die Waffen (weapon) legt an is rubbish. First off, the command would have started "Das Gewehr" (the rifle) instead of "Die Waffen". Second, it doesn't make sense in what happens next. The troops can be heard marching as a result of the order. If the first order is indeed to aim the weapon/ready the weapon to fire. No order is given to shoulder the weapon. No order is given to start marching. And the result is the unit marching... presumably still with their weapon in a position ready to shoot it.. cue Benny Hill theme because that'll be funny. "Die Waffen, legt an" is like a misheard lyric and the nature of the drill commands has something to do with it. The words are not fully pronounced and at times grunted out in a rhythm. It's clearer to the ones receiving the order, in no small part due to the consonants being harder to hear than vowels. For example, the command "right face" can be given as "right..... face!" or anything else that works "right... huh!"

I was watching Boardwalk Empire season 2, episode 8, when I heard this sample at exactly 34:08 (in the show). My mind started doing spins and I told myself, "it cant be..." It is. I had no idea this was taken from some vintage recording.

Nice to hear the old Alan Bell Band - Stuart Robinson (Robbo) on a guitar he may have made himself under the guidance of Roger Bucknall, Alan himself on English concertina, Kevin Whelan on an as-yet unadulterated fiddle and Bernie Brewin on electric bass.

Part of my wonderful introduction to the folk scene in Blackpool and Fleetwood during the sixties and seventies , Alan and his fello Taverners folk group were always friendly . So much energy and help was given by volunteers at the festival which could not have happened without them all.

I believe both commands end with the word "arm", as it is used from the American army. Greek army commands tend to finish with either "arm" or "marche" as they pretty much copy the Americans to a rather great extend. 💁🏼♂️ Can't confirm, since I'm not American but it further solidifies speaking english and NOT german.

Joseph of Arimathea, said to have buried Jesus and had custody of the Holy Grail, possibly deposited while he supposedly visited Britain. Not much is known for certain about the man, which has given rise to all manner of legends (arguably cynically devised, if you're sceptical about such things, to confer undue prestige upon various places and people).

I could always, and can still, see this turning into a 20 verse ballad, with each verse framed according to the same basic structure: "Nothing says I'm a [insert unflattering adjective] [insert unflattering descriptive noun], just like a [insert flashy showoff feature on a car], [insert some driver habits/actions that aren't very considerate] [and here, insert a consequence that nobody wants (hey, that scans with the tune anyway)], I'm such a [insert blisteringly rude descriptive noun cut off before it becomes an actual utterance]." Heck, one verse of that a week and your channel will go viral, with people commenting suggestions for the next verse left right and centre! Only problem is, you'll have to continue adding verses until you die, because it won't, because that's how these things work once established.

Funny there does not seem to be an analysis based on elimination of possibilities. Because this cannot be any number of words, but only a very specific set of commands are even possible. Marching commands are given in this very recogniseable intonation because the succesion of vowels is distiguishable way farther than the actual words are. The last syllable also holds no information, instead it functions as the "execute!" command for whatever came before. Meaning that the command we hear is: I - A - EE, .. E - A! Wich should be unique. "Die Waffen, legt an!" sounds good, BUT: Assuming that the marching steps and the command are actually at the same place and time, this would need to be a command that prompts marching. "Legt an!" for a rifle is the command make ready to shoot. Taking up the rifle to start marching should be, i think, "Schultert das Gewehr" (shoulder your gun). SO.. I think we are at square one. It could even be a montage of marching and random commands.

Congrats with your house-move. The last RE-1000 I saw on eBay went for around £60. It certainly has gone up in price from the £30 I once paid for it. There is a bit of an aesthetic drive just now to return to old/obscure equipment - part of the eternal drive by the mavericks seeking to divert from the 'current sound'.
