Andy McCluskey is a gifted singer/songwriter. He has the rare ability to write reflective songs - yet with an upbeat slant to them. This was when Andy took full control - the shift to complete pop music. OMD are 1 of the best bands to come out of the UK. Still so underrated. Andy still has so much energy on stage. Amazing performer too. That McClusky shuffle 🕺

I always say to my husband the only problem with OMD, is their intelligence . Their music was almost too good, hence they never got the number one singles which many of their songs deserved. Because all their songs were so strong and so perfect( I do have a soft spot for sailing on the seven seas)

@@themoores9817 As a 57 year old man their songs released around the early 80's ..Joan of arc, Souvenir, Maid of orleans, electricity, defined a lot of what i went through in my turbulent teens and I always turned to their LP Architecture and Morality to give me some quiet time when the the hormones were running rampant. Now at 57 years old I play those songs and chill and reflect on the stupid decisions I made but cannot undo and I smile. At least I was born in a time that OMD existed.

i am 58 years young and I walk to my local gym and back every day. I listen to OMD to remind me of my youth and I do not regret a single stupid thing I did in my teens. I drink alcohol and I smoke. I married once at 24 years old and have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. We divorced when she discovered the green grass on the other side of the fence. Had multiple jobs including hard labor. So I do value my youth because i THINK i EXPERIENCED MOST OF IT. I also broke my femur in 2019 and that is not good when you get older. But when I was younger I watched Bagpuss, the Clangers, captain pugwash, noggin the nog and Rhubarb, I also watched as Voyager flew by Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune and sent back pictures to Earth. So many things I did not mention., I think I was really lucky to have been born in 1966 and to have seen the things I have seen.

You know it was only at the very end, when my mother's body was riddled with cancer and she knew she was about to die I truly understood the depth of her love for me. Even in her pain, in her weariness, in her hopelessness, she thought of me first. She was more worried about how her death would affect me than she was about her own final moments on earth. It makes me cry every time I think of it. At her funeral, I played a version of M83 - Outro I made especially for her. I wish you could hear it. A mother should never bury their child.

It has such a bitter sweet feeling to it, this song. I think it's something anyone under forty is unable to feel. The bitter sweet memories of a wild youth. The friends who didn't make it this far with you. The beauty and excitement of being young, the thrill of new experiences, finding love. The mistakes you make when you're young, some of which stay with you for the rest of your life. I felt immortal when I was a teenage kid. It was only as I got a older that some of my friends died, my brother was killed. I'm acutely aware of my own mortality now. Live life to the full & have fun when you're young. There's plenty of sadness, loathing and fear in life so live hard & fast & loose when your young 😱💀

The same with me! Today I heard in a supermarket and noted the line "Walking on the Milky Way" and that how I found it here!

This is such an uplifting song. We all go through things in life and this song says that there is more to your life, just grab that re-birth and remind yourself of how far you have come to date. Sometimes we need reminding.

Uplifting? Not sure I'd describe this song as uplifting - it's about regret, missed opportunities and wasting your life away
