Just discovered that song some hours ago. I don't know many songs of OMD, I was scrolling through their albums as suddenly an EP named after my hometown showed up, with the song of the same name being part of it. 😅 Could be referring partly to the bombing of Dresden in WW2, they said it's a metaphor, no matter if it is or not, still a really good and catchy song. So, greetings from the wonderful city of Dresden. 😇

Great song, up there with their best. But I hate the video - it's a major distraction, the overblown aesthetic takes over, and the constant deviation from modernist 'bauhaus' aesthetics into futurism, deco and cyberpunk just gets on my tits.

@@themotorman123 there are some good tracks on the early 80s albums but many of them are experimental tunes. Without Stephen Hague, their career ended with "Junk Culture".

They are still making albums. The last one came out in 2023. They have toured Europe this year already and are going to tour the U.S. in the Fall.

Can't believe they had the decency to make a single out of my one of my faves. Be stupid to leave it on album, what with it being so brilliantly of our times what with perfect government-bashing and seedy sicko presidential 'leads' that do nothing for a country but make it worse, not that anyone responsible for anything like that would ever think for a minute that a song like this could be about them. This a single also makes up somewhat for the dreadful choice of the Goldfrapp rip-off clumsy 'Slow Train' and the fact 'Don't Go' is taking up space on the album where the only-available online 'Tomorrow Is Today' is on no physical releases at all-they didn't even have the decency to put it on a CD release of this single, if one were coming. What was the point in making the song, and we all had 'Don't Go' anyway-it was a single from 4 years before. Laziness and a piss-take, McCluskey, it's bad enough this is another album that Paul has no song himself on to sing.
