The thing about OMD is the songs make sense the first time you hear them. There's songs that take 5-10 listens before I can even catch the melody.
@MischaMoo7 жыл бұрын
Paul's voice is amazing, this is such a melancholy song however it the tune doesn't let it sound depressing. It's a beautiful balance. Listening to Paul sing this live in concert genuinely sent shivers down my spine it was undefinably good. Love OMD.

One of the best things about OMD is that they sound just as good live. Andy is constantly getting everyone dancing and always makes sure the show is filled with energy

Paul wrote this after having said goodbye to his family dog. An extremely powerful song, which I heard around the time we lost our family cat. Universal love, animals are our best friends. OMD forever in my heart.

What have we done to deserve OMD ??? Great band still churning out lots of great music. Seem to get better with age as reflected in their last three albums. Gutted for Malcolm Holmes as he had to retire on health grounds, but I'm sure he's always in the bands thoughts. Life goes on, it has to. Looking forward to their next studio release. Hopefully we won't have that long more to wait !!!

I like most OMD songs the first time I hear them...with most bands or singers, it takes me 3, 5, 10, 12 times before I know them well enough to enjoy.

What an Awesome song. I have missed the 1980s style of music like Vangelis and Maid of Orleans. Thank GOD I have discovered OMD now. Makes me want to start playing my Yamaha FE50, PSR3000 again.

Definitely NOT A GOOD IDEA...could you imagine this on a James Bond film god it would be a disaster everyone would go WTF is this crap playing urghhhhh

Is this the only song you know of OMD? Here are crap songs from James Bond and are not hits. Jack White/Alicia Keys - Another way to Die - Quantum Of Solace A-ha -The living Daylights Chris Cornell - You Know my Name -Casino Royale Sheryle Crow - Tomorrow Never Dies Garbage - The World Is Not Enough Duran Duran - A View To Kill Sam Smith - Spectre One day I was listening to the radio A great dance song was playing. Had no Idea the name of song or artist. It was Madonna - Die Another Day Here are some James Bonds songs that are great and became hits. Shirley Bassey - Diamonds Are Forever Wings - Live And Let Die Carley Simon - Nobody Does It Better - The Spy Who Loved Me Sheena Easton - For your Eyes Only Madonna - Die Another Day Adele - Skyfall So far you are the second person whom think not a good Idea. Several OMD fans have it's a great idea. Thats ok for you to think WTF

I am a giant fan of OMD and a-ha, I buy any CD of both I can find, have deluxe of the latest 2 OMD, love all their new songs, I've never been a James Bond fan and I really hope OMD will utilize their talents elsewhere than anything about James Bond. I think of OMD as being above that stuff. Oh I do think The Living Daylights is a good song, and it was indeed a hit, it depends on the country, it even charted in the US. You misspelled: a-ha, Sheryl, A View To A Kill, and Carly.
@djkenny12026 жыл бұрын
Uh. That Duran 2 song is the best of the best. It was a very big hit. The A-ha one didn’t Chart. But it was good.

I'm so glad they decide to make the song led by Paul as a single :') this song is so superb. I always love Paul's softer and more melancholic approach in songwriting compared to Andy. The opposing character between them is what OMD ceaselessly interesting and beats the test of time. Love the modernism in this video, too. Great job, guys! :)

Wow Wow Wow...Words escape me...being a child of the 80's (Flock of Seagulls, Kraftwerk, Eurythmics, Gary Numan, Skinny Puppy, Front 242, et cetera) AND being a long-time fan of OMD in their various incarnations...i must say that THIS...THIS album is the absolute pinnacle of perfection. This is a possible stepping-off point, a re-birth if you will of electro/synth pop that could inspire and spawn an entire new generation. The sequencing, sampling, vocoding, melodies and not-quite-so subtle political lyrics are absolutely top-notch! I saw them live just recently, and man...what a performance. Andrew singing, dancing and thrashing about like he's still 20...those crazy melodic synth washes crashing over me like waves ov pure energy and joy will not soon be forgotten....need I go on?

OMD and XTC two unrelated bands but both blessed with two great songwriters. I'd argue the break through UK hits for OMD and XTC were Messages and Making Plans for Nigel, and while McCluskey and Partridge wrote more songs, Humprheys and Moulding had the unteachable knack of writing hit singles.

Now that time, it came calling An angel has fallen And nothing can be how it's been And when love seemed so heartless When light turned to darkness Now only her star can be seen What have we done? You could talk without speaking Cry without weeping Your secrets will never be told Leave your bonds left unbroken Words left unspoken And dreams that can never unfold What have we done? So there's no one to cry for To lay down and die for Now only the scars can be seen What have we done?

Stay With Me was among their strongest tracks in recent times, from the first time listening to it I know its going to be in my playlist on repeat for years to come, I did not even need time to let it grow on me, its effect was immediate and it stayed fresh even till now ...
