Hi, I was wondering, if I see a brown spot at the tip of one leaf and in the middle of another leaf what does this mean? And what should I do?
@rosestines662 жыл бұрын
What should I do if I have like cut mark on my oldest phal it’s on one of the oldest leaf but the leaf looks pretty good except for that cut place which I didn’t do that it’s like it’s too heavy n it cuts itself I’m always careful when I put it in the bathtub to wet it so do I need to cut it off even though it looks good

My DIL bought me an orchid as a gift earlier this year, and i was dreading having to tell her it had gone the same way as every other orchid ive ever had! For the first time EVER i have managed to not only keep it alive, but its just starting to grow a new leaf. Im so proud of it. Many thanks.

Thank you for your videos! Since I found them not long ago, I have discovered that a brand new Phalaenopsis, still in flower, was suffocating in its pot - most roots gone! Same with an older one which had never rebloomed. Moss media in both. Used a bark media mix to repot both and they are looking better already (and the flowering one is still flowering!). Used your watering and care tips for another one (the one that almost killed my other orchids when it came into my house with mealy bugs hiding in the media). Three years after treating it (and the others) and repotting all of them it finally has a flower stalk! One of the other mealy bug infected ones is now getting a new leaf. Just one is still in recovery but will probably do so. You are great!

Great video, very simple and concise. I grow in zone 7, indoors, under a grow light. This Spring I repotted most of my 50 orchids in live orchid grade sphagnum moss. The growth and blooms have been fantastic. Just wondered what your growing conditions are?

I have 15 phaleonopsis orchids. I have them grouped together because it is the only area that has perfect light. They do very well and they get new flower spikes. I just have some that have a lot of roots outside the medium. Some I’ve reported that were like this. Should I be repotting them to put some of the roots back under the potting soil?

Hi Danni! i had to come by today (well, I visit everyday to watch at least one video) to "Thank You" for the cool way you show us how to re-pot orchids. I tried the bark/sphagnum moss method this week and it is keeping my orchids nice and hydrated enough where I did not have to water them everyday. I actually didn't mind watering them each day (well, I only have 2 orchids at the moment) but sometimes life happens and I could not get to it. Problem solved with sphagnum moss!! :) Now, I will work on trying to get them to bloom this year. :) .....more to learn, and more videos to watch. Thanks Danni (...and please, if you see this, please let me know if I am spelling your name correctly haha). :)

Hi Danny, thank you for very informative video! One question- with sun being up in sky, and rain falls from sky, why orchids in nature, which grow their leaves toward sun, do not get stem rot by rain drops?
@MissOrchidGirlАй бұрын
Hi, orchids have adapted shapes and growth patterns to avoid rot sometimes. Phalaenopsis grow slanted, or rather leaning on the tree, with their leaves facing the sun but growing downwards so the water flows off. In pots we put them upright, not a natural position for them, so their adaptation doesn’t help them :)

Hi there. Thanks for all the info you provide. I am a new follower. I was wondering if you or anyone else can provide me some feedback. I have an orchid that I repotted. While doing this, I took a picture of the roots. It seems to me that the roots aren’t extended fully to the bottom of the pot. Rather they were tangled up close beneath the surface. I was wondering if she is rejecting her medium. She came from soggy sphagnum moss when I first bought her in January. When I repotted her, I put her in bark chips. She didn’t dehydrate or anything. When she lost her blooms about two weeks ago I repotted again and added a few light strands of sphagnum to help with hydration (Bc I have two others that are dehydrated) and I didn’t want this one to go down that route. That’s when I noticed the positioning of her roots as being clumped up. I also think that her leaves, although firm are a slightly lighter green. Maybe I’m just paranoid...but should I put her back in 100 % sphagnum moss? I don’t see anything else visibly wrong with her.

It was out of my Office for a week as I am always on the road, so it was sitting in this beautiful wrapping, I got her home and another week went by and she is still in her packaging then I found that I should have removed the packaging otherwise the root will rot!
