I enjoy your videos. I live in California and grow inside under natural light and grow lights. Even though we grow differently I do get a lot of insight from you. So if you could sometimes mention growing inside under lights would be fantastic. Keep up the good work!❤

I agree. I grow indoors under lights in TX

Thank you for watching! We really appreciate the feedback and will certainly run with it. Since we are primarily outdoor growers, we tend to focus on outside growing care. We will be sure to mention the requirements of growing indoors (if it’s possible with said plant) in future videos!

Thanks for taking us along for a ride. Your words, specific descriptions and pictures throughout each video are what brings interest to others. The variety of topics and getting suggestions from viewers is a great idea to expand content and further interest in your KZbin channel. My friends thank you for the recent video on black rot. It's a heads up for so many of us who live, grow and care for orchids and other plants. Respectfully,

we're not here to hear you two talking tristan but looking for the latest gossip on orchids. You could call it an obsession. It's good to see you finding time to make more videos. Glad you are enjoying yourselves. I personally would rather see a video when it feels right than you trying to make dedicated species videos although it sounds cool I don't think it would be worth the effort. There is a saying "like watching grass grow" - of course not as boring as grass but imagine someone did a youtube channel just timelapsing grass grow on his front lawn, I doubt it would get too many views although it would be slightly funny. I'm just glad you two are willing to share your great collection which is a personal aspect of every grower. You work at one of the best nurseries whose owner is one of the few people I know understands orchids better than anyone else I have heard talk about orchids in the hobby. I am more interested in the long term content, watching your orchids grow bigger over the years and maybe learn some insights you have. It's good to have some younger growers to follow but most importantly not just one really knowledgeable person but the two of you. Like Nelson likes to say the proof is in the pudding. The thing is though , I remember as a beginner I was easily awed and distracted by a person showing me a nice flower, not really paying attention to how the plant is grown, whether it still has the price tag hanging from it or how long someone has been caring for it. Back then I had no idea what to look out for and many people are just here for a pretty flower, whether someone just paid $80 and have no clue how to keep it alive more than a few years or someone makes it their aim to make sure they do. To me someone raising a seedling to a flowering sized orchid is an impressive achievement. One I can guaranteed you many seasoned orchid growers would struggle to do despite being able to keep a small collection of already grown flowering orchids half way alive. Many consider themselves orchid gurus because they have gathered the biggest knowledge on them and would say growign orchids is easy. But then these people will at the same time come up with an excuse why they no longer grow them. To me growing orchids is easy in theory but in reality only a handful of people have what is called a "green thumb". It's like expecting every kid to be good at baseball. Some will be, others won't. So what do you tell the kid that loves baseball it's just something they will never be good at? They would say I will learn every book written on baseball off by heart and I will become the best baseball player once I have studied all there is to know and be the best baseball player ever born. Anyway that would be the other youtubers 😉 What I like about your channel is you clearly have a green thumb and don't just accept any answer for the sake of having an answer but make sure it is the right answer too. I would love to hear more about who, what or how you got into orchids to begin with. I'm still trying to evaluate whether it was a good thing or a bad thing I got the orchid bug when I did. They are a good hobby but dangerously obsessive. I have heard of many people just filling their entire house with orchids or other plants. Who am I kidding, so did I. Well, enjoy the last of the summer.

Tom, you’re hilarious! The gossip on orchids 😂 When we were in college, we were given a syllabus and it’s the LITERAL guide to get an A in the class. If you don’t follow the instructions/guidelines, you’re a fool and shouldn’t question why something did or didn’t work. Orchids have care instructions and if they are given everything needed to survive, they will flourish. Some people either have the time and dedication it takes to tend to their plants or they don’t. I always respect the people who own up to the fact that they don’t have a green thumb. Having a green thumb certainly helps, but I’m not sure it’s a requirement. The requirement is doing the necessary research and figuring out what works best in your own growing environment. And if you’re not good at growing, you’re probably better at doing something that I suck at LOL! Thanks for being here, Tom! We hope your Labor Day Weekend was wonderful.

@@IngramOrchidsandMore I know what you mean about following the syllabus and if you do you would get good grades. Not my approach, expecially with orchids. If there was a perfect guide out there that people could follow then maybe. I don't think there is (yet). I literally even believe the basics of what actually makes orchids flower is not even understood properly yet. See myself I believe it is practically completely temperature unrelated. Whereas everyone else places a huge importance on temperature changes for flowering of orchids. My guide would state "every orchid just needs to be grown in their preferred temperature range and that is all there is to it" But apart from that, it is in my opinion practically impossible to write perfect instructions for growing orchids. Like the belief that you can just watch a bunch of videos and you follow them you will be guaranteed success is just not what I believe in. I think we need to be able to adapt to problems that occur. I believe for example all fungus issues are secondary infections. You don't need to treat the fungus. You need to treat what is causing the plant to be suceptible to fungus. A good grower is one that can recognize pests before they spread. Impossible to teach that skill via instructions. It just comes from experience. But not everyone follows the same goals as I do I know and everyone makes their orchid experience uniquely tailored to them in whatever way they prefer whether they just like to meet new people, have something to spend money on, or a hobby to spend time on. My aim of having a perfectly healthy collection is not one I would recommend cause it is ridiculously challenging to not have the random orchid shrivel up and die no matter how well one follows the instructions. Hope you had a good labor day too.

I like the format! The awkwardness of taking to the camera fades away in short time! I just have two things to say: 1- You should live closer to work! And 2- I can't believe your questions were done right when you arrived at your destination! Was it good timing, or you had more questions to go, or that was just a little car stop at the end to finish up the video? Lol. It worked beautifully, anyhow.

LOL! I promise our commute to work is quite short! It’s the traffic in the mornings that make it longer than it needs to be. As soon as we parked, we were at work and had gotten there early so it helped us finish everything up nicely. We had so much fun filming this. Thank you for being here and we hope you had a great Labor Day weekend! 💗
