@@taishakuten5141 Just curious. Do you grow your orchids outdoors? I live in a climate where our summers are consistently in the triple digits. However, my orchids are grown indoors where we use A/C. I'm guessing that would make a difference since it doesn't stay that hot in our house. Also, they're grown upright in pots so the water doesn't drain well from the crown.

@@nancyn6215 im from Puerto Rico my mom grows them outside all year around and puts them under the rain when pouring. They thrive pretty nicely. Im in US now so I learned the hard way it don’t work that way in here.

@@nancyn6215 Here in the tropics we mostly grow our plants outside as there is no winter season here. Some of my orchids are potted, attached to a wood or hanging. I just simply water them using hose and does not really fret if the crown gets wet as the climate is hot and there is wind all day.

I bought 2 tiny baby orchid plants from Lowes last summer. Eventually the blooms died, but the leaves looked so incredibly beautiful, I kept them watered and manicured. They just sprout 2nd generation multiple blooms each this month. So happy. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 I did not know they rebloom after they die. They are also incredibly social able. I put each one next to different cacti and both seemed as if to try and hug or wrap their stems closer to the plant next to them. Their leaves began stretching & growing into their neighbors. It's awesome to notice how small plants interact in a plant baby village. 🌱🌰❤️

You can use that type of shell Question 2. You cannot plant orchids in water, they will rot

Wetting the leaves, especially the crown will lead to the orchid rotting. Crown rot is one of the worst things that can happen to your orchid since the crown is needed to produce more leaves

I think it looks like the orchid fertiliser product “Rain Mix.” One is meant to add a tiny bit of the pinky powder to actual rain water and then water the orchid with it. (But please note: that just an educated guess. I cannot read actual label and the container itself is quite different. Yet the actual powder and the resulting colour of the water look identical to the Rain Mix I use.🤞🏼😊)
