so before you install the backflow preventer. The first thing that should be installed after the main water source or POC, should be an isolation valve? depending on your county or state or regulations?

Where would you put the blowout??

According to guidance from AWWA and others, it should go just after the backflow preventer. I understand that in colder climates, they put the blowout, which is usually a hose bibb or quick connect, before the backflow so they can blow it out with compressed air. This violates the mandate to not have a potential cross connection outside the protection of the backflow. I'm sure local and state code can influence this. . Thank you for bringing this up. I talk about this in other videos, but I should amend this video to include that.
