Level 2 inspector here. This is an amazing break down of the basics. I’ve been in many classes that struggled to word everything and quick and concise as this. I’ll definitely be sending this to a few people.

question, do you still need a pump, if your main water supply is from a water tank above your building?
@paulmaxwell88517 ай бұрын
It simply depends on whether that gravity feed will supply enough pressure. It almost certainly cannot, so a pump is usually required.

4:02 the rod is to close the the Tee. Min. 3in. Also a fire system isn’t meant to fight the fire. It’s purpose is to contain fire , refuse heat and smoke so people can get out.

Around here (Canada), sprinklers are NOT considered life-protection devices. They are structure protection devices, and they can and DO often extinguish fires on their own. Smoke detectors are the only devices considered to be true life-protective.
@Crazywhitie7 ай бұрын
@@paulmaxwell8851 Canada has Fire Protection in Parking Garages. Those are Non- Combustable... There are so many unprotected areas of a building Per NFPA coding. Like stair wells 13 - only top and bottom. But 13R every accessible landing.. do you guys guarantee a property loss % when installing?

The speed that things are covered is ok for someone who already has some familiarity with sprinkler systems. As someone else pointed out. 225 sq ft max not 200. Also this video is only 2 years, why is it using PIPE SCHEDULE in a new sprinkler system? That hasn’t been legal since I started in this industry 20 years ago.

Nice lil vid. Light Hazard sprinkler coverage is 15 x 15 = 225 sq ft by the way, not 200.
@AMJEngineering2 жыл бұрын
Oh it is a big mistake if i said 15x15=200😅. Any how 225 is the maximum allowed design coverage area, so good to adopt 200.

Hi wonder if you can answer my question, is it the case that all tenants in flats have to leave their home for 3/4 months while sprinklers are being installed? Thanks in advance.
The artificial narration is very, very annoying. But the subject is interesting. I watched it to the end, even though I wish real humans would narrate these things.

Paper is not flammable. It is combustible.
@AMJEngineering2 жыл бұрын
Fire code and building codes of almost all countries define paper as flammable. Paper catches fire and sustain burning.
@resqjason22 жыл бұрын
@@AMJEngineering but paper does not meet the definition of a flammable material. I thought engineers would be better at that. Words have meaning.
@resqjason22 жыл бұрын
@@AMJEngineering gasoline is flammable. It releases vapors that readily ignite below 100*f paper must be heated to 451*f before it will combust. Also a sheet of paper will not be fully engulfed at the moment of ignition. It will burn from one side to the other over several seconds. A pan of gasoline or other flammable vapor will immediately ignite across its entire surface area that has the proper fuel:air ratio.
