Ordering A New Corvette Is A Rollercoaster

I made a mistake last year in Maui - I rented a 2020 Corvette. From that moment, I was hooked and knew I had to get one. I documented most of the process, including spec'ing in the Corvette build website, working with dealers and allocations, waiting, tracking, and taking delivery.

It for sure depends on the dealer, and where you are located. I didn't pay Markup, and still got mine in 3 months. I'm a RARE breed according to many people, but I in fact did get mine at MSRP. No markup. I'm not the only person that didn't pay markup, but very few people get their cars as fast as I got mine. Congratulations on the new C8, I'll for sure be following your journey. We were blessed with finding a 2023 C8 HTC equipped with exactly what I would have ordered, 3LT, mag Rosa, lift, performance exhaust, front splitter, low spoiler, and lots of carbon flash accents on the arctic white Vette. I am 75 years old and this Vette is the best vehicle I have ever driven. We went to Hawaii in 1994 for our 25th anniversary and while we were on Maui we rented a jeep wrangler. I liked it so much we bought one when we got home. Maui is a dangerous place to visit.

i keep it simple, i got the cheapest New Corvette, Red and i removed the Top to make it look Convertible and i drove around and people were looking at the Car like if it were a Lamborghini, McLaren, Ferrari or Bugatti

Chevy will send you an appreciation gift. It's a model shaped like the C8 in your color and it will be on a base with your VIN. However, it could take over a year to get it. I have own my C8 for 16 months and I'm still waiting. I called the Corvette concierge service and I was told that they are way behind. Anyway, I thought you should know. Cheers!!!

I got a 2022 hypersonic grey Z51 HTC in Oct. ‘21. I went thru virtually the same experience as you. Paid the mark up and never looked back. I wanted the car. I went to Pahrump and spent two days learning the capabilities of this machine. I love the car and enjoy it daily. But now, I see the error of my ways in paying the markup… I want to trade up to an Eray and I’m on a short list but the depreciation on my car combined with the lost ADM makes it a steep gap price to pay. Not sure I’ll pull the trigger. It doesn’t make financial sense. I could easily live with my current Stingray.

That price gap sucks to get over and doesn't feel great to pay more than the car is worth on the market, but like you said, if you want the car and you don't get really lucky, you aren't left with many choices. The Eray looks insane, but I will say that I sat in a Z06 and while it was impressive, it wasn't $50k-more impressive. Just my personal opinion. We all have our own goals. 🤘

Ha, no kidding. I mean, it really comes down to whether you want to pay more to work with a dealer that has a larger number immediate allocations or use a dealer that doesn't charge more but you have to wait on the allocation to come up. Frustrating in both scenarios.

Additional break-in is 1500 miles with no track events prior to this. You get a free service from GM that includes an oil change, DCT filter change and tire rotation (side to side). This needs to be done as close to but not over 7500 miles and within two years of taking ownership. So, if you are a year in and not anywhere near 7500 miles but want to get the oil changed, because, well, you should at least once per year, just pay for that oil change. Tell the service guy you will pay for the oil change. You do NOT want to use the free service from GM. Good luck and enjoy the drive!

I’m in the same boat, been on the reserve list at my local dealership since April 2022! I checked in with them yesterday after watching this video and turns out I’m now at #5! The salesman said it’s likely my number will be called next month (November). The crazier part is that I switched from Torch Red to Sea Wolf Gray with the gloss black wheels and both options might be on constraints! Do I wait it out since I’ve waited this long or do I take the red to bring this baby on home?!? Also heard that GM is raising the price 2k on all models and trim levels for all Vettes produced after October 2nd.

Firstly congrats on your C8 SR. I owned Corvettes previously, even had a custom made C5R-427 track monster. Eventually others things became more important. Then I saw the first C8 video. My Corvette radar took off again and I put down a deposit for a Z06 Sep 2020. Due to low Z07 option availability I am still waiting.

​@JWilliams . Customers are clearly paying it. Here in Canada, I have not yet heard of one example where a customer who factory ordered thru their dealership - was charged more than MSRP. Not one. I'm talking 26 examples that I know of. Now if a car was DEALER ordered and not tied to a customer/deposit - the dealer can bump up the price. Moral of Story: factory order your C8

When my wife came to me early 2021 and said we are getting a C8 I started looking right away. From the day that she said go, it took me three months to find a dealer that was taking orders with no mark up. I went to that dealership and the first guy I talked with screwed me over on getting my order placed. I took seven months and talking to a different sales person to get my car ordered. Twelve months later I got the notification that the car was getting built. Two months later I got the call that the car was on the way. The day that the car got dropped off at the dealership, the sales person told me that the car was getting unloaded and that it would be about three to four hours before it was done with the dealer inspection and prep. A few hours later I was on my way to pick up my new Silver flare 2023 C8 Z51. A few headaches with the dealership at the beginning that make the car take longer then it should, but at the end of the day I got my dream car at MSRP and the way I ordered it.

Not sure why the service guy said you cant lower them. They have adjustable coilovers that can be adjusted to i belive .75 inch lower. Angthing lower will require new springs.

It's because of front lift. Technically you can with aftermarket collars, but then you're screwing with your warranty for the front lift and (probably) the whole front suspension.

Dude that is a sick car. Congrats! I don't have any personal experience with them but the story always seems to be the same with cars in your class. The C8 will hook up better bc of the mid engine layout and take them off the line but the Shebly will quickly catch up and walk it.

Thanks! It's called hypersonic gray. Interestingly, I see a lot of videos on KZbin that show this color looking a green. It's not green at all, and I spend a lot of time dialing in color hues in my videos to make sure it's as accurate as possible. 🤘

Ive been watching the car since 2020, thinking, "I'll wait a year or two and get one at $55K" - but I just realized, I think because the value is just so insane, that not only is Chevy going to increase the prices every year (like with the C7 and C6) but also the demand will be pent up for a while, so I just bit the bullet and put my deposit down for the waitlist. I think you're going to be fine C9 comes out in 2028, in 2027 I bet the MSRP is going to be $72ish for LT1 and your car will probably still be worth $65K (if not more, I really dont think they're going to dip the value is just so insane - you can not get a 2.9 second mid-engine as refined as this anywhere else) - so not a bad deal considering. Corvette prices have basically followed how much a tradesman makes in a year, well all the tradesmen i know make 125 grand a yeAr, so MsRP of 70 grand isnt out of line, but the Z06 was never meant to cost 250 grand. So thats a problem, the zo6 should only be 10-20 grand more, and this supply issue is bullshit.

The Z06 pricing is disgusting. Nothing about that car is so much better than the Stingray that it justifies an extra $50k minimum. Even at MSRP, it's still a hefty price jump and you're waiting god knows how long.
